The Doctor Who Experience Porth Teigr, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff

.

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord—a time travelling, humanoid alien known as the Doctor. He explores the universe in his TARDIS (acronym: Time and Relative Dimension in Space), a sentient time-travelling space ship. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, a common sight in Britain in 1963, when the series first aired. Along with a succession of companions, the Doctor faces a variety of foes while working to save civilisations, help ordinary people, and right wrongs.

Popped into the exhibition about toys at our local museum in Northwich. It was the Salt Museum but now the Workhouse Museum as the building used to be an old workhouse originally. All toys donated by local people , hence the rather odd groupings.

This is the orange spacesuit that also featured in 42 and Waters of Mars. First attempt at painting the torso and leg detail by hand with a paintbrush - hence the wobbly lines. Might redo do this later when I get moving with the inkjet printed waterslide transfers.

Custom Tomb of the Cybermen diorama built by myself. Scenes from Tomb of the Cybermen.

Who are you?

Custom hair for both of the figs. River Song's just needs painting, but the Doctors needs a little more putty as I over-sculpted it.

River song has a chrome torch made from a lightsaber handle, while the Doctor sonic screwdriver is Tan aerial cut down (needs some detailing)

dalek ears blink to sound

made mostly from trash

what was bought:

30 ping pong balls

two cans of spray paint

small plunger

the electronics are pretty simple. it's just a condenser mic, an op amp, and some resistors driving two blue leds under the ping pong balls in the helmet. when you talk, they blink in concert with your voice.

at Anime Expo 2013 at the LA Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles.

Here is my revised Tom Baker minimate. I bulked up the hair on the sides of his head with some apoxie sculpt to make him look more like the actor. The Dalek he is with is a Micro Dalek that I bought on ebay for $15. As you can see, it is a little bit too tall. But it is also awesome, and much better than I could ever sculpt, so I won't be replacing it anytime soon. Its electronic and it will move and talk!

... with a DVD for scale

my friend adrian painted this for me on a big roll of paper and put it on a bathroom door in my house as a birthday gift. I left it there for 2 years because it was so cool

A bunch of Target book cover recreated using Dr Who toy figures. The Daleks cover features the Product Enterprise Movie Daleks and the rest are Character Options figures. I have redrawn elements of the backgroudns to accomodate the figures.

A Doctor Who mug, purchased from Blackpool's Doctor Who Exhibition c.1980.

The Styre figure has a great face sculpt. I added the large knife that I had knocking around in an old box, it fitted Strye pretty well..
