Another capture from close to Pordoi: some dramatic sun rays lighten up the clouds along the Langkofel group. Towards Pordoi and Arabba, things turned as well into drama, as clouds as black they could appear moved quickly towards our view point. I had to water protect all my photogear well inside my poor weather protected vehicle...good that exiting the cars typically happen in a well protected garage :-). Stay healthy and safe, 2 more days to reach weekend. Thanks, Udo.

Capture taken during the Junen motorcycle trip to the Dolomites. Just arrived midnight at Passo Sella to take some midnight and sunrise shots. Still a few remaining snow patches around. The car just came in when doing this 3 min capture. All a good start into this new week! Thanks, Udo.

Sadly it was a heavy cloudy day, and this, was the last time we saw the sun. Despite the nice shots of the landscape we took, the sunset was not the best I ever seen. But cannot always get everything we want no?

Capture taken during previous Dolomites trip. Went up early towards Passo Pordoi to take a series of captures and merge into this one...have a good weekend ahead. Stay safe and out of trouble. Cheers, Udo

Capture taken during a nice day we spend during recent Dolomites trip. This small shelter is placed just close to the Gabler Peak; in the background, you can "allmost" touch die Geislergroup. Thx, Udo.

Another capture on the way down from Col Redella. Some remaining water puddle of rain from pervious days created a nice reflective surface to mirror the peak of Langkofel-Plattkofel group. Have a good weekend ahead. Stay safe and healthy. Cheers, Udo.

There are still a few places left where to enjoy some breathing space when enjoying the scenery and autumn season towards the end of the day...enjoy the weekend ahead..allmost done with week 2. Thanks, Udo.

This year, the weather certainly allowed a climb up to the Latzfonser Kreuz, as nice clear view, blue skies and some mild degrees...last year, it was like covered with half meter of fresh snow and people in my back advising to not do any next steps, probably for good reasons...Thx, Udo.

Already starting to prepare activities for next trip...still a few monthes to survive...Have a good weekend ahead. Thanks, Udo.

Capture taken during previous Dolomites visit. Have a good start into the new week. Stay safe and healthy. Cheers, Udo.

Getting up very early often gets rewarded by beautiful light...or in this case, beautiful fog, that did not allow me to take shots from the point that I went, but with the drone, some decent visibility was possible. This is the Langkofel group, taken close from Passo Sella. Met with 2 nice guys later, that took captures from a different location..had some good early morning talk...Enjoy the rest of this weekend...Thanks, Udo.

Ok, I have to admit it, the average of times I take my camera and I go for a photo trip I'm pretty lucky with the weather. This time was one of the those I've been really lucky. The visibility was perfect, the weather fantastic, the sky worthy of a fantasy movie. What else? Just a little of cold wind but cannot complain at all. This was the vista I got from the Dolomites mountain range, captured with a really wide angle lens, from @Irixlens . In the next posts I will add some details and more stunning view of that day. Stay tuned!

Late summer afternoon in the Dolomites. The view is from the east flank of the Dürrenstein massif in a south-easterly direction, no idea which mountains you can see in the picture.

Spätsommer-Nachmittag in den Dolomiten. Der Blick geht von der Ostflanke des Dürrensteinmassivs in Richtung südost, keine Ahnung, welche Berge man im Bild sieht.

Capture taken this years June motorcycle trip to the Dolomites. This one is taken from Grödner Joch towards Langkofel, with some few clouds turning around...Good weekend ahead! Cheers, Udo.

Capture taken early morning on the way up towards Sella and later Gran Cir. All have a good weekend ahead. Thanks,

udo.

Launching the September long weekend trip tomorrow..hopefully there will be some good weather and light conditions during upcoming days...this one is taken from Sella in June...Thanks, Udo.

Capture taken during recent trip to the Dolomites. Unfortunately, the weather was on the poor side in the first couple of days, but had great fortune to see this fox moving around while I was trying to shoot some mountain peaks...Have a great weekend ahead. Thanks, Udo

A piece of local country lore says:

If the Odle massif wears a cap,

the weather won't be bad.

If a sabre lies at the bottom heavily,

you'll need an umbrella necessarily.

So now you know!!

Capture taken from Col Rodella towards Passo Pordoi during a stunning early morning sun glow...Keep healthy and safe...Cheers, Udo.

Brenta Dolomites 29230714

The Brenta Dolomites are located in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park and include eight peaks that are over 3000 m high. Numerous other peaks are over 2800 m high. In the history of mountaineering, the Brenta Dolomites have played an important role. Characteristic of this area is also the presence of a large number of via ferratas of varying degrees of difficulty.

The Brenta Dolomites, like the main Dolomite groups, have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A treasure trove in the heart of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, which leaves anyone gazing at the Dolomite stone pinnacles, towers and rock faces open-mouthed.

Back from a brief trip to paradise… Northern Italy and the Alps. Managed to snap a few pics during this “traveler’s tour,’ which is always a challenge since nobody waits for tripod users; hence all shots are handheld.

Dolomites mountain group is in the eastern section of the northern Italian Alps, The range comprises a number of impressive peaks, 18 of which rise to more than 10,000 feet. The highest point is the Marmolada (10,964 feet, the southern face of which consists of a precipice 2,000 feet high.

The range and its characteristic rock take their name from the 18th-century French geologist Dieudonné Dolomieu, who made the first scientific study of the region and its geology.

Geologically, the mountains are formed of light-colored dolomitic limestone, which erosion has carved into grotesque shapes. The resulting landforms include jagged, saw-edged ridges, rocky pinnacles, screes (pebble deposits) of limestone debris, deep gorges, and numerous steep rock faces at relatively low levels.

Glaciated features occur at higher levels; 41 glaciers lie in the region. Many of the lower and more gentle scree slopes were once forested; only patches of woodland remain, however, interspersed with grassy meadows.
