My cold is over, the weather is better and I'm trying to catch up with Dogwood 52 weekly postings.

After much humming and hawing, I decided on this version for my leading lines image.

Dogwood 52 Week Photography Challenge - Week 13 Portrait - High Key. The challenge for this week is to expose to the right and create a light, airy high key portrait

With a busy period including Easter, I struggled to find the time and a willing subject for the challenge and ended up chasing down the neighbour’s cat for this challenge. The Cat and I have a love hate relationship that goes back a while so trying to get 'cat' to stay still was no easy task. In fact, it was near impossible.

The shots captured during this little shoot displayed 'cat' in various stages of hate for me, from hissing, heckles up, complete distain and finally the sit and stand watch pose. Unfortunately, every time I tried to get that bit closer 'cat' took off.

In the end I was out in the middle of the street with a 70-200 trying to get an image I could use. Suffice to say our love hate relationship continues on as before but fortunately the week 13 challenge is ticked off the list.

Week 13 Portrait: High Key

My photograph for Week 13 of the Dogwood 52 Week Photography challenge.

This week is about the Golden Hour. The Golden Hour is the hour before sunset or after sunrise when the sun casts amazing golden tones. The brief was to take photograph during the Golden Hour to tell a story

The sun rises over Lake Michigan in Highland Park, IL

The topic was leading lines. I just liked the sun rays guiding the viewer back to the lake. This site is one of the largest bird sites in Australia, and is a sewerage treatment plant over 10,000 hectares. We were privileged to see the most critically endangered birds in Australia - the orange bellied parrot (only 14 left in the wild)

Just another days commute to a customer

Got my 30,000 mile checkup today. Feels like a new beginning.

Week 13 Creative: Leading Line

When you get it right in camera and have to do minimum edits like cropping. Went into the city last night to catch the sunset and decided to take a walk over to the Wabash and Adams Street El station (a type of train station for those who do not live in or near Chicago). Used my KIT lens 18-55 dx 3.5-5.6 with my full frame Nikon D750. You can get great images with a kit lens too.

This was one of my bucket list shots that I was finally able to get and it turned out exactly how I wanted it to.This was on my bucket list and I love how it turned out. This is the Wabash and Adams 'L' station on the pedsterian walkway.

My contribution to the 52 Week Challenge (Dogwood2017) on the theme golden hour in category story.

Dogwood week 13: Expose to the right and create a light , airy high key portrait.

A photographer contact offered me the use of her studio this morning and I had a lot of fun, having never tried this before. Got loads of shots.

Create a light , airy, high key portrait. My friend's niece is a talented musician and actor in the making. She was a natural. Fair play to my sister's coat and her dad's t-shirt. Who needs Kate Moss!?

I don't do "model shots" but I really enjoyed this week's challenge and learnt a lot.

My man Schevchenko gave me a hand this week for my High Key portrait submission. :)

'Caught Between 3 and 5'

This one was a challenge for me, because I had no idea what high key photography or lighting was. The purpose of the challenge, though, is to stretch my boundaries and educate. This week certainly did that.

Ever since I saw that a 'golden hour' subject was in the challenge this year, I've been trying to capture one. It's hard, and I am glad I put in the effort to capture one whenever I saw one!

One again one of my guinea pigs got to model for me, in my lack of inspiration.

It is also my first high key photo, so I'm grateful for any constructive criticism :)
