Siberian Huskies at Retordica, Plateau de Retord, Cuvéry, Ain, France

For more than 25 years, an international dog sled race has been taking place in the wilderness of Plateau de Retord. Many mushers love this site to train their teams throughout the winter.

The sled dog racing is subdivided into several categories according to the number of dogs harnessed and in three subcategories according to the breed of dogs harnessed.

Indeed, the faster Siberian Husky compete in a separate category, the other three breeds : Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed and Greenland dog run in the same category, while the so-called "Nordic type" dogs participate in their own category.

Ed è in certi sguardi che s’intravede l’infinito.

And it is in certain glances that the infinite is glimpsed.

Lucy came for a visit so naturally I had to take photos of her. It was hard to resist seeing she gave me those "puppy dog eyes ".

Looking for spring, or after new adventures?

Sorry that I am not writing any comments this week. I have a shoulder injury and can only type very briefly. I'll catch up with the sections in the week!

The Berczy Park Dog Fountain, installed in 2017, is a whimsical creation by Quebec landscape architect Claude Cormier and Associates. Tucked behind Toronto’s Flatiron building , this ornate fountain pays homage to our four-legged friends.

The Dogs: The fountain features three tiers adorned with cast iron sculptures of beloved pooches. Look closely, and you’ll spot a Great Dane puppy, a Bernese Mountain Dog, a giant Schnauzer, and a West Highland Terrier. These canine companions gleefully spit spurts of water, their eyes fixed on the giant bone that crowns the fountain.

The Cat: Not to be outdone, there’s a cat sculpture nearby. Kitty sits near a German Shepherd, gazing at two bird sculptures perched on a lamppost.

The Breeds: The fountain showcases 27 different dog breeds, including the Fox Terrier, St. Bernard, Dalmatian, Golden Retriever, Beagle, and more.
