If you look closely, you will see a freshly cut Christmas tree in the back of the river boat.
- Pitt Lake
Beautiful British Columbia
Canada
~C
Pitt Lake is the second-largest lake in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. About 53.5 square kilometres in area, it is about 25 km long and about 4.5 km wide at its widest. It is one of the world's relatively few tidal lakes, and among the largest. In Pitt Lake, there is on average a three foot tide range; thus Pitt Lake is separated from sea level and tidal waters during most hours of each day during the 15 foot tide cycle of the Pitt River and Strait of Georgia estuary immediately downstream. The lake's southern tip is 20 km upstream from The Pitt River confluence with the Fraser River and is 40 km east of Downtown Vancouver.
Pitt Lake is in a typical U-shaped glacial valley in the Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains. The overdeepening of the lower end of the valley over the span of the Wisconsin glaciation created a trough over 140 m below current sea level. After initial glacial retreat at around 13,000 years ago a saltwater fjord occupied this basin when relative sea levels were still ca 120 to 140m above current levels in the region. Unlike neighbouring Indian Arm and Howe Sound farther west, this fjord basin became partly cut off from tidal waters by sedimentation of the lower Fraser River ca 10,500 years ago, and Pitt Lake is now considered a tidal fjord lake.
Pitt Lake is the second largest of a series of north-south oriented fjord-lakes incising the southern slopes of the Pacific Ranges, the largest being Harrison Lake located 60 km to the east. The other fjord-lakes include Coquitlam Lake, Alouette Lake, Stave Lake, and Chehalis Lake.
The Pitt River drains into the northern end of Pitt Lake. The western shore of Pitt Lake are protected within Pinecone Burke Provincial Park, while most of the eastern shore are protected within Golden Ears Provincial Park. The southern end of Pitt Lake features an extensive marshland called Pitt Polder. While most of this marshland has since been drained for agricultural use, the northernmost portion is strictly protected in order to provide critical habitat for migratory birds.
Communities
The community of Pitt Meadows and the First Nations reserve of Pitt Lake Indian Reserve 5 are located at the southern end of the lake. Just southwest of the lake is the community of Port Coquitlam, which is across the Pitt River from Pitt Meadows. At the north end of the lake is a locality named Alvin, which is a transport and shipping point for logging companies and their employees.

A late model (at the time) Dodge pickup sits on the station platform at Thunder Bay, Ontario. Parked illegally?
🎵I been down in the dumps when I wake up in the morning
Same four walls been getting kinda boring
'Cause I been losing my Dodge Ram mind all day
They can kiss my ass as I drive away
What you saying 'bout a little pick me up?
We're way too young to give us up
What you say we all go somewhere and get stuck
Well, life's a ditch, so what the truck?🎵

My new favourite song by the Reklaws, Sacha. We are two days into extremely cold wind chill values between minus 40 and minus 55 that are expected again overnight and I wish I could take off in my Dodge Ram for a wild adventure but I have to stay home and take care of the horses. Soon though, soon. In the mean time I'll keep the home fires burning and dance around the room to this tune.
This was taken at Old Car City in White, GA. I'm not sure of the year, probably late 40's. It's extremely corroded.
Thanks for views, comments and favs :)
For 121 Pictures in 2021 #78 "Represent your own zodiac sign", this is the tailgate of a Dodge Ram pickup truck, found in the parking lot of a grocery store. My sign is Aries, the ram.
I found this truck parked next to us last night. Hmm, I wonder what model it is? Happiest truck and monochrome Thursday! Oh, and Merry Christmas, yeah I know, this shot looks more like Halloween. On second thought, do you think Krampus would visit the southern states? Santa I’ve been good, I promise. ;-)
funny decoration on the grille of this heavy Dodge with several moose figurines. Made us both smile and was worth a pic :-)

Three boys with toys, chainsaws that is, and two Dodge pick-up trucks came today to cut some wood.
My neighbor who cut down some trees to make room not for a parking lot but for landscaping purposes offered the wood to whoever was willing to cut it up and haul it off, and some friends of mine jumped at the chance of getting a lot of great firewood for free.
The sunlit hood of one of the trucks came in handy as I can not venture far from home today due to a head cold. This one was easy to pull off even with a cottony brain.
Taken at Newcastle's centennial day celebration on September 20, 2008. I was running around getting a ton of photos of all the action going on in town that day when I spotted this Dodge pickup with a VERY NICE non-stock hood ornament. The standard Dodge ram looks positively puny below that huge REAL ram looming above it. As a collector of animal skulls, I have to give the proud owner of this truck high marks for working this creative custom modification, despite the "Frankensteinish" bolts used to snug the horn tips down.

The raptors seem to be arriving early this year. In the past few days I have seen several snowy owls, rough-legged hawks, and a Great Gray. This is my first Short-Eared Owl.
Now before all you out of town folks start following my truck around, I must warn you - this was shot near Leamington! Oh, and I did trade the Wrangler in for a black Dodge Ram. Happy hunting...
