One thing that immediately strikes you about the Lakes District in Cumbria, England is that it isn't all lakes. Here are the low fells that rise to Grasmoor at the northeastern tip of Crummock Water. This is the gateway to six Wainwright fells that make up the Grasmoor range. A lovely little hike if you've got some free time ;-)

Bloomington architect George Miller designed this beautiful Queen Anne style house for Edward & Ora Gridley in 1885. Edward Gridley was the son of Asahel Gridley, a local land developer and attorney. The house was preserved by Alice Light McTurnan, whose family lived here from 1904 to 1996.

The Edward & Ora Gridley House is a contributing property in Bloomington's East Grove Street District. This residential historic district includes 43 houses and apartment buildings, 25 of which are considered contributing buildings. The houses in the district were built between 1855 and 1915 for many of Bloomington's upper middle class residents. Due to a building boom between 1880 and 1900, the then-popular Queen Anne style is the most prevalent in the district. Other popular architectural styles in the district include Greek Revival homes from the 1850s, Italianate homes built between 1860 and 1880, and Arts and Crafts homes built in the 1900s. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1987.

Bloomington is the seat of McLean County. It is adjacent to Normal, and is the more populous of the two principal municipalities of the Bloomington-Normal metropolitan area. Bloomington is 135 miles (217 km) southwest of Chicago, and 162 miles (261 km) northeast of St. Louis. The estimated population of Bloomington in 2019 was 77,330, with a metro population of 191,067.

The Lake District is a region and national park in Cumbria in northwest England. A popular vacation destination, it’s known for its glacial ribbon lakes, rugged fell mountains and historic literary associations. Market towns such as Kendal, Ambleside and Keswick on scenic Derwentwater are bases for exploring the area and home to traditional inns, galleries of local art and outdoor equipment shops. ― Google

South Lakeland is a local government district in Cumbria, England. The population of the non-metropolitan district at the 2011 Census was 103,658. I have no idea where they are.

Looking foggy tomorrow, not sure where to go...

Spectacular Lake Windermere, part of the Lake District National Park, is the best known and most visited area. It is the largest lake in England, measuring ten and a half miles long and a mile and a quarter across at it's widest point, with a depth of up to 220 feet. The lake is so large that it has a slight but discernable tide.

A photo from twelve months ago and a wonderful bright November day in the Eastern Lake District.

Instead of completing a typical round of High Street and Mardale Ill Bell I chose to include Braintree and descend via Gatesgarth Pass. This made the day longer but kept me high up for the delightful later light as seen here.

Work on the creation of Haweswater reservoir commenced in 1929 and the valley was flooded in 1935. At that time all the farms and dwellings of the villages of Mardale Green and Measand were demolished, as well as the centuries-old Dun Bull Inn at Mardale Green. Just occasionally in times of drought the remnants of the old village and the local dry stone walls can be seen when water levels drop too low.

Chrome Hill is in the Peak District. The view here gives a good perspective of the landscape around the area.

"Belle" is the nickname of this statue dedicated to the "Unknown Prostitute". She is in the plaza next to the Oude KIrk shown in my submission 2 previous to this one. The plaque at the bottom of the statue reads "Respect Sexworkers all over the World"

Mist and fog was forecast but we never expected it to be as thick as it was. This was taken on the way to Chrome Hill. By the time we got to Chrome the fog was so thick that all light from the sun was completely blocked out. I can't recall seeing fog as thick for quite some time.

Chrome Hill and the regular composition with the tree in the foreground looking over to Parkhouse remains elusive despite numerous attempts. Hopefully capture it at some point this year.
