Some folk know I have a long term project photographing Chatsworth Road. I'm half way through photographing the Just Tyres place near the old Bradbury Club.

I wanted to capture the fairly dismal conditions of the place and something slightly different about the people who work there.

This was taken using a 28mm lens to emphasise the wheel hub and exposed for the tarmac beyond the figure so as to send the figure and the tyres etc. into silhouette. Medium aperture (5.6) and about 1/125. It was a dull day so I could avoid blasting out the highlights.

My external flash unit was one I picked for free at a going-away party for one of Alvina's coworkers just several days ago -- and it's a Nikon while my camera is a Canon, so the metering doesn't seem to work correctly. Took me three tries to get the exposure right. The first one isn't even worth uploading. This is the second attempt, and it was still a bit underexposed.
