“No weapon has ever been frightful enough to put a stop to war – perhaps because we never before had any that thought for themselves!” [Prologue]
“The Defenders” explores themes of the Cold War, the nature of truth and deception, and the role of artificial intelligence in warfare. The story depicts a post-nuclear war society where humans live underground, leaving robots called "leadys" to fight on the surface. The story's plot unfolds as a team is sent to the surface to investigate the robots’ claims of a dangerous, radioactive landscape.
The team discovers, instead, a beautiful, green, and undamaged world. It has been restored by the machines, who have been faking the war, believing people are not ready to return. The story was adapted for the radio program “X Minus One” in 1956, and served as the basis for Dick’s 1964 novel, “The Penultimate Truth.”

It's an odd title for a spaceship, I know, but waddayagonnado? My entry into Team Lunar Defense Moonsquad's round of the Starfighter Telephone Game.
All of my little rose garden is in bloom now.. I only have 5 bushes but it is so uplifting to go out and take a few shots of the beautiful flowers.. This was taken with a fairly new Mirrorless camera and I am amazed at how sharp it is... With an Adapter I can use all my lens and that makes me happy... I had put off buying one because I didn't want to have a different set of lens.... Processed in Topaz Studio with the Impression preset Georgia O'Keeffe Style...
I first started photographing graffiti in 1999, and in 2000 I setup a website to share my photos. Initially a mix of different subjects, but it soon became almost entirely of graffiti. I uploaded over 6000 photos to this site. Eventually Flickr came along a few years later and I started using that instead, and stopped updating the website. I shut it down completely a few years ago.
I occasionally get requests from people for photos of pieces by specific graffiti writers, and I thought it might be a good idea to upload them all to Flickr.
Most of these photos were taken on film, scanned, and saved at a small size, back in the day when people were still using 56k modems to connect to the internet and small filesizes were desirable. So apologies for the quality and size for some of these. Someday I'd like to get them all scanned in again at a higher resolution.
Like my photos? Buy me a coffee!
Dick Johnson.
He is one of the larrikin icons of the Australian motor racing scene.
So much so that in the Q150 celebrations Dick was proclaimed a “sports legend” in the Q150 Icons of Queensland category.
Today Dick Johnson no longer drives instead he is a part owner of the team DJR Team Penske and adopts a more managerial role.
A three time winner at Mount Panorama Dick also claimed the title of Australian Touring Car Champion five times.
In 2001 he was inducted into the V8 Supercars Hall of Fame.
In 2019 Dick was once again at the Mountain enjoying the V8 Supercars Event.

Going back a week, this is another shot of Dicks Creek Falls, a little different angle, and not a full wide shot. I like this angle on the falls.
I guess the closest thing to Dick Tracys wristwatch video phone is the modern day 3G mobile phone, but who would have thought just 10-20 years ago that you could see if your daughter was keeping her apartment clean 3000Km away by calling her on Skype video.

Dick Tracy cartoon strip started in 1931 and in January 1946, Dick Tracy changed forever with the introduction of the 2-Way Wrist Radio. This seminal communications device, worn as a wristwatch by Tracy and members of the police force, became one of the strip's most immediately recognizable icons, and can be thought of as a precursor to later technological developments, such as cellular phones. The 2-Way Wrist Radio was eventually upgraded to a 2-Way Wrist TV in 1964.
