On February 22, 1984 Huron Hotel Limited Partnership I was formed to develope, operate and own a 100 room hotel (The Crossroads) with two restaurants (Festivals - all day dining and The Library - fine dining), one bar/lounge (The Caberat) and 7,000 sq ft of meeting space. The Crossroads Hotel and Convention Center opened in April, 1987. The general partners were: Richard L. Johnson (individual General Partner), Earl Nordby, James Zurbrigen, Stan Ward, Pat Prostello, Nels Olsen, Carol Erling, Gene Sibley, Effie Pugsley, Bud Maher, Jack Lawson, Jeannette Lusk, and Pete Mies.
Total Project costs were $6,658,000:
$5,458,000 for the hotel and
$1.200,000 for the parking facility and water, sewer improvements.
The sources of funding totaling $6,658,000 included:
Bond Loan: $2,000,000
UDAG Loan: $1,000,000
CDBG Loan: $200,000
Limited Partner Syndication: $1,958,175
General Partner Capital Contribution: $300,000
EDA Grant (for parking ramp): $700,000
Special Assessment Bonds: $500,000
The architect was The Durant Group, Dubuque, Iowa. The interior designer was PYA/Monarch, Minneapolis, MN. The bond loan underwriter was Juran & Moody, St. Paul, MN. The syndicator was Timmington, Meyer, Schram & Co. Counsel for the General Partners was Steffens & Wilkerson, Edina, MN. The feasibility study was done by Laventhol & Horwath, Minneapolis, MN.

Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg Coordinators‘ meeting in Tunesia
More than 70 coordinators of the international cooperations programmes of the Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg were meeting to explore and strengthen the impact of their programmes.
Laura Winn from London School of System Change, helped to develope a scheme on how to analyse the so called ecosystem which is growing around the regional programmes and how to profit from these kind of ecosystems. Tea Talks and Case Clinics opened a forum for the coordinators to bring their experience into the THK network, to discuss future work and exchange ideas on problem solving. Also staff member of other MitOst programmes were invited to share their expertise. So Sebastian Schlüter presented Actors of Urban Change, Olga Kotska Tandem, and Marischa Weiser introduced Tools for Citizens and Kathrin Oerters shared more information about MitOst as a network and members association.
To discover nature, get to know the local history and the todays creative and art scene the group went on field trips. A talk on the Arab Spring in Tunisia invited the participants to debate the developments of the last years.
Last but not least, we shall mention our constant companion who helped us make this meeting especially successful: The sun, shining bright and warm, thus giving us the opportunity to hold many workshops, talks and evening events under open sky.
The local coordinators of the THK programmes meet once a year with the team of the Berlin office in order to discuss work, discover synergies and exchange views on the further development of THK. This year’s meeting took place on the Tunisian island of Djerba from 11 to 15 March. The Tunisian THK programme Mosta9bali and their respective coordinators from the environmental NGO AJEM gave a warm welcome to the 70 participants.

Went for a summer walk in the city. The Chinon CE-4s seems to suit me better then the other SLRs in my collection (I hope it is not an offense to my Prakticas, Zenits, Pentaxes... They have their beuty as well - oh, those specific shutter sounds!). It is just a feeling when it is in my hand: it feels just right. I shall see on the longer run. I have used Tetenal Ultrafin to develope the Fomapan 100. At 20 degrees Celsius I used 8 minutes of developing time , agitating at each minute for 10 seconds.

The combination of rocks and vegetation were beautiful and natural. The white spikes are the remains of the flower below.
Echium wildpretii, an endemic biennal plant of the Canary Islands. First they develope a fresh green rosette (foreground of the pic) with a deap tap root . The comming summer they generate their impressiv inflorescens.... Thank you Raawee for ID.
