It's a shame that these Eastern Tent Caterpillars are so destructive because the moths themselves are quite stunning.
It isn't often that a destructive wildfire comes so close to threatening your home and livelihood, but today, was one of those days.
Earlier this afternoon, I awoke from a mid-afternoon nap to the sound of a loud helicopter flying unusually low over the house. It woke me to the point where I couldn't go back to sleep, so I checked Facebook, only to see a post from my next door neighbor alerting us to the smell of smoke and a very large cloud behind the house.
Right away, I soon discovered that a large fire erupted less than two miles away, and placed all of Lake Limerick under an evacuation advisory. Thankfully, we were not evacuated, but almost a thousand Sheltonians have been.
I began taking these about an hour after the fire began, with the last photo taken approximately seven hours later. It is presently estimated at nearly 300 acres, with 0% containment.
Let's keep all those affected in our thoughts tonight.

Since 2014 I've been documenting the daily, destructive, poisonous chemtrail activity in the Dayton, Ohio area -- home of the notorious Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (visited by every important person on Earth, and even a few Aliens ;-) -- and apparently from my photo and video documentation, Chemtrail Central. However, this area isn’t special in that regard. The massive chemtrailing is going on across the USA (and other countries), as evidenced in abundance on FlickR and many other sites. This incredible not-so-secret Government program, which itself is expensive and dangerous, spoils not only blue skies, but poisons our air, water and soil to unknown levels. Regardless of the purpose, weather control/weather as a weapon/mind control, it really amounts to a crime against humanity in my opinion.

Ripples I produced by tapping my foot when this stretch of Wester river on a day in which it was flat calm where it met Reiss Beach.
Pholiota destruens. Common mushroom growing on Cottonwoods(Populus sp.). It attacks even living trees and is responsible for a lot of damage these trees, hence the name. It is said to be edible, but it smells horrible so I have never tried it. Also pretty tough.

The last years mandate was a mandate partially in favour of the Vidyarthi Parishad and the responsibility to work for the student community of the campus was at least partially vested on us. lnspite of the utter lack of cooperation and attempt to create obstacles by the SFI representatives in JNUSU, we succeeded in fulfilling many of our promises and can characterise the last year as a year of silent work and achievements. In previous years too, from 1996 onwards, ABVP has left Its mark on the JNUSU in the form of constructive achievements. In 1996 under ABVP-Ied JNUSU, portraits of Swami Vivekananda, Bhagat Singh and Netaji were installed in the JNUSU office and the practice of celebratinQ Independence Day and Republic Day by JNUSU was initiated. Before this, under the .
influence of the left, nationalism was known as a bad word on the JNU campus. Last year, it was on the initiative of the ABVP that route no. 621 was extended into the campus. This year. we had taken up the longstanding demand of the students for a Railway Reservation Counter on the campus and after pressurising the Railway Ministry, succeeded in starting this facility which was inaugurated barely 3 .
months ago. Taking up the issue of hostel shortage, we succeeded in expediting the construction of Mahi-Mandvi its fast allotment and its mess facility, as also starting the construction of 2 more new hostels, which would ensure that by the next year, students can be given hostels at the time of admission itself. The hostel problem which had persisted for the last 6 years has been given a final goodbye. The ABVP-Ied JNUSU led a struggle against attempts at commercialisation of our university through short-term courses in SIT in which our activists sat on a 9 day hunger strike. Subaequently, all organisations were compelled to join this agitation under the leadership of the JNUSU President Sandeep Mahapatra. .
Apart from these, the JNUSU ensured that 4000 new books and journals be purchased for the Central Library and also that 140 new computers were purchased for the use of the students and have already been distributed to the various centres and the university bandwidth has been increased from Y:a mb to 3 Ya mb to ensure faster net access to students. Space has been sanctioned for a computerised bus pass counter which would Issue the 6-month bus pass. A TM facility has already been inaugurated in the SBI Extension Counter and Bank Draft Facility is going to be started soon. Friends, a lot has Indeed .

How To Control Pigeons
Pigeons are one of the most annoying and destructive pest birds. They make their homes in the roof creating serious problems for households. Their dropping contain acid which can leave the roof in very bad shape. Their nests can lead to blockages of ventilation ducts, drains and sometimes cause fires. If a number of them make homes at your place, trust me, the damage will be devastating. But how do you get rid of them and keep them away? We have borrowed some amazing tips from the team at Pest Control North Brisbane for what you can do to control or get rid of pigeons.
How to Get Rid of Pigeons
Below are some tips which could be of great help.
Use Bird Spikes
This type of bird control does not only keep pest birds off but also any unwanted animals from climbing on any surface. Spiking is the use of thin wood, metal or any rigid material with a pointed end. This makes the surface unstable and challenging for birds to land on, forcing them to leave.
Install a Scarecrow
This is one of the oldest, traditional ways to keep such disturbing birds away. Install a decoy predator such as a snake to scare them away. You can either make one yourself or purchase it. The scarecrow should be placed where these birds typically roost. Also, make sure you rotate the scarecrow on a regular basis to avoid birds getting used to it.
Block off All Entrances
This is another great trick for dealing with pigeons and other pest birds. By closing the openings, it prevents these birds getting in. You should also consider covering windows and large openings with weighty curtains to make it hard for them to enter. Also, use plasters or sturdy clothes to close the corners where they can build their nest.
Use Sonic Bird Repellent
This is the use of sounds usually made by predators. Periodic predator sounds from a recorded source. This sound scares the birds off, and any other dangerous pest. Another form of this method is to play high-frequency sounds that are only audible to the pigeons. This irritates and discourages them from sticking around.
Install Bird Nets
Nets work well if you have identified a skylight that seems to be a hangout spot for pigeons before finding their way into the roof. These nets prevent access to the area where they intend to stay. The method might be inappropriate to preventing access to the whole roof but can surely protect your skylight, chimney or roof vent when used together with other methods.
Build a Bird Feeder in Your Yard
This is the perfect way to remove the birds from your roof, and attract them to another location. The trick also ensures that your roof will not be damaged. Presence of food will make them forget what was unique about your roof. Also make sure the feeder is a distance away from the house, curious children, and pets because the birds may pick up the food and fly back to your roof to eat it. Ensure they are not disturbed so that after eating they fly away.

Kubiš Says Iraqis Want Leaders to Act to Counter Extremism, Promote Tolerance
Baghdad, 10 February 2016 - Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq Jan Kubiš, at the conclusion of World Interfaith Harmony Week in Iraq, said that the people of Iraq have sent a clear message to their Government and to the political and religious leaders that they want action to counter extremism and sectarian policies and promote tolerance. He stressed continued UN support in such an effort.
“Throughout this week, we have heard stories about the destructive impact of sectarian, religious and ethnic violence on many communities in Iraq. No religion, sect, nationality or ethnic group is immune to this disease and threat. Radical ideology and policies of sectarianism, violent extremism and terrorism that are in its most extreme form represented today by Daesh present a serious threat not only to peace and security; but if not curbed, will also be a threat to the unity of Iraq and its people,” the SRSG said.
Mr. Kubiš added: “We cannot allow the inciters of sectarian violence to pull communities into the cycle of violence and reprisals and drive a wedge between various components of Iraqi society. They ultimately serve the interests of terrorism.”
The World Interfaith Harmony Week, marked worldwide on the first week of February, promotes a culture of peace and non-violence, religious and cultural understanding, and emphasises the need for dialogue among different faiths to enhance cooperation and harmony. In activities held in Najaf, Baghdad and Erbil 2-10 February 2016, religious leaders, politicians, academics and civil society groups came together around the theme of interfaith dialogue and harmony as key to ensuring peace and stability.
“These discussions have encouraged all of us to think about ways to promote the principles of tolerance, equality, justice and co-existence,” the SRSG said at the concluding session on Wednesday 10 February 2016 that was held at the Al-Jilani Mosque in Baghdad under the theme: “Bringing It All Together: An Action Plan to Promote and Protect Religious Harmony”.
SRSG Kubiš said that participants over the past week demanded action. They urged legislators to repeal discriminatory legislation and implement inclusive policies as well as to adopt laws clearly criminalising hate speech and propaganda that incites violent extremism. They also called on the Government to create the necessary conditions for the safe and sustainable return of displaced communities as well as ensure State authority is restored to liberated areas as quickly as possible to prevent violence. Participants urged political and religious leaders to promote tolerance, understanding and peaceful coexistence to counter violent doctrines and sectarianism. Civil society, in particular women and youth who shape familial and social norms, and media, which drive public opinion, have a key role to play.
Participants also urged the state to vigorously work for real and profound reforms to ensure good governance and elimination of corruption, inclusive and equitable access to employment opportunities, education, health and other services, effectively functioning economy and social justice. Without such reforms, the burden of the current economic fiscal and social crisis and austerity measures will only further alienate and radicalize many, mainly young people.
“The participants in The World Interfaith Harmony Week sent a strong appeal to the State to implement confidence-building measures that would promote tolerance, equality, justice and respect for diversity thus, working also for national reconciliation, for historic compromise that will preserve unity of Iraq and its people,” the SRSG said.
Political forces are called upon to overcome political divisions that so far prevented progress on these issues, he said, expressing UN readiness to contribute to implementing the recommendations.

A panel entitled "What are the key issues and ideas that were highlighted during the World Interfaith Week Events held so far?" was held moderated by Mr. Marwan Ali, Director of UNAMI Office of Political Affairs and the panelists were: Dr. Hassan Nathem, UNESCO Chair for Inter-Religious Dialogue Studies in the Islamic World, University of Kufa,
• Ms. Shatna al-Abousi, Advisor to the Speaker of the Parliament,
* Mr. Ali Difai, QAdvisor to the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament,
• Dr. Jabra Ahmed Ankoush, Professor at Baghdad University
• Mr. Falah al-Alousi, Salam al-Rafidain Organization.
