He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sun rise.
William Blake
The church that stands today was completed in 1717. This church was built on the rubble of the 1625 church destroyed in the Pueblo Indian Revolt.
I only know where I continue to stay
only know where I always seemed to be
I only know I will be staying here
only know I must have always been here

see my cell structure dissolving
drop by drop by drop…
– to quote myself – the cell core breaks out
the cell wall breaks down
Even strong concrete structures are destroyed when wind and waves work together. But they can also make great photo motifs, on evenings like this.

Last week, we had another king tide, as well as 80km hour winds along the water. The wind and waves brought hundreds of logs to Ambleside Beach, as well as destroying the sailing club and some of the seawall, and the pier sustained damage, sadly.
I wish I had been there to witness the power of nature. But I did go there two days after hoping to photograph some of the aftermath. I couldn't get to the pier as it was closed, as was much of the seawall.
So I decided to do an ICM of the logs that had rolled onto the beach. Another photographer was walking into my scene and I thought she looked very ghostly here as she moved slowly along the shore.
James Lionel Dugdale (1862-1941) laid the foundation stone of Crathorne Hall in December 1903 and the house was completed in June 1906, becoming the largest country houses built during the reign of Edward VII.
It was built with 115 rooms, 41 of which were bedrooms. There were 26 live-in servants who occupied the servants’ wing
Crathorne Hall in Yarm was badly damaged by the blaze on 1 October 2014 which started in the roof space of the east wing. All of the guests and staff were evacuated safely from the site, but the east wing on the rightside of the picture was totally destroyed, but as you can see it has been rebuilt exactly as it once was.
Falls of Shin is a waterfall on the River Shin, in northern Scotland, near the villages of Bonar Bridge and Lairg.
Falls of Shin had a popular visitor centre, managed as part of Balnagown Estates, a company owned by former Harrods boss Mohamed Al-Fayed. This included a restaurant, a branch of Harrods, and a waxwork model of Al-Fayed. The visitor centre was destroyed by a fire in May 2013. Balnagown Estates have since been working with the Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust to develop a new visitor attraction. In May 2017, the new visitor centre opened following the successful construction carried out by William Gray Construction. The opening event was dubbed "Celebra-Shin". The café is currently operated by Mac & Wild- a company created by Andy Waugh and Calum MacKinnon with 2 restaurants in London and Falls of Shin being their third.
The Falls of Shin were dynamited to improve the salmon access.
Aside from the Salmon Viewing Platform, the site also comprises a Mini Golf Course, Woodland Walks and a large Children's Playpark.
In an Enchanted Rose Garden Destroyed by Indignant Old Ladies’ Fatal Lobbying
While I was taking pictures here one day, two old ladies appeared behind me and cried shame and scandal at the sight of the untidy state of this rosarium at some extent left to itself. I, on the other hand, had year after year enjoyed the enchantment of this sleepy rose garden at the Donaukanal in Vienna and found lots and lots of wonderful photo motifs there. I could not foresee the impending disaster at that moment.
Old ladies indignant at untidiness are a natural force that can't be stopped with bare hands (except by strangling them in time, but this isn't allowed by the law). In the spring of the next year, when I wanted to look for the first rose blossoms there, I found a construction site fence with the announcement that they were laying out a new rosarium... I waited one year for the result.
The result? The result is shattering. The result is tidiness without any roses. It's an annoying alibi parkway. The Vienna municipality gardeners are doing great jobs. Any of their parkways is worth being photographed, because they follow their excellent ideas, except this one, which is the result of the indignant old ladies' fatal lobbying.
Luckily I have dozens of photos of this wonderful rosarium destroyed by human stupidity in my archives...
This time, I tried to put more light in my way of taking my "goth" photos. What do you think? I even added a smile! Isn't this new? haha!
Story : I am happy in my own destroyed world. I am a paradox. Beauty in the horrible or the reverse?

Ueno Park (上野公園) is one of the oldest public parks in Japan, created in 1873. The land had formerly belonged to the temple Kan'ei-ji (full name Tōeizan Kan'ei-ji Endon-in, 東叡山寛永寺円頓院), a temple closely associated with the Tokugawa family. But many of its building had been destroyed at the battle of Ueno in 1868, and after that most of the land was turned over to the city of Tokyo.
Today the park houses several museums, temples and a zoo and is one of the most popular parks in Japan, counting some 10 million visitors a year (under normal circumstances).
This is what a legitimate out of control wildfire looks like. The Dixie Fire in northern California is now the largest wildfire in recorded California history. It has been burning for 5 weeks and has destroyed towns, villages, farms and ranches totaling almost 1 million acres.
We have voluntarily evacuated our home twice in the past week, and are currently awaiting instructions from the civil authorities. Haven't been able to post any pics for some time as we have packed and moved so many times, we're completely exhausted and just this evening was even able to plug in my computer in a safe place.
Mosque "Gold Dome of the Rock". Moriah Hill is a place sacred to the three great monotheistic religions. Tradition identifies this place with a mountain of Moriah, where Abraham was to sacrifice of his son Isaac. King David bought the place, trying to build a temple to God. It does this by his son Solomon. In the year 587 BC the temple is destroyed by the Babylonian king Nabuchodozonor. Is then reconstructed to provide only the former glory of King Herod Great. In the year 70 AD, is destroyed by the soldiers of Titus so that "no stone left unturned." Western Wall is a remnant of this great building. After the Arab invasion in the seventh century, Caliph Abd al Malik raises great mosque, one of the most beautiful and important. According to Arab tradition, the Prophet Muhammad was taken away to heaven along with his horse.

Patchogue has added a new 22-foot solar-powered lighthouse to its jetty. The lighthouse is part of a $1 million project to reconstruct the Patchogue Bay jetty after it was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
Not very impressive, but I've wanted to see it for a long time!
Eilean Donan Castle
Eilean Donan is recognised as one of the most iconic images of Scotland all over the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish Highlands.
Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries.
Partially destroyed in a Jacobite uprising in 1719, Eilean Donan lay in ruins for the best part of 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap bought the island in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castle to its former glory. After 20 years of toil and labour the castle was re-opened in 1932.
There are four generations of the MacRae family past, present and future who are still the Constables of Eilean Donan Castle today.
Kronborg (Danish pronunciation: is a castle and historical stronghold in the town of Helsingør, Denmark. Immortalised as Elsinore in William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, Kronborg is one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000.
The castle is situated on the extreme northeastern tip of the island of Zealand at the narrowest point of the Øresund, the sound between present Denmark and the provinces of present Sweden. The latter were under Danish control at the time the castle was built. In this part, the sound is only 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) wide, hence the strategic importance of maintaining a coastal fortification at this location commanding one of the few outlets of the Baltic Sea.
The castle's story dates back to a stronghold, Krogen, built by King Eric VII in the 1420s. Along with the fortress Kärnan in Helsingborg, on the opposite coast of Øresund, it controlled the entrance to the Baltic Sea. From 1574 to 1585, King Frederick II had the medieval fortress radically transformed into a magnificent Renaissance castle. The main architects were the Flemings Hans Hendrik van Paesschen and Anthonis van Obbergen. The sculptural work was coordinated by Gert van Groningen.
In 1629, a fire destroyed much of the castle, but King Christian IV subsequently had it rebuilt. The castle has a church within its walls. In 1658, Kronborg was besieged and captured by the Swedes, who took many of its valuable art treasures as war booty.
In 1785 the castle ceased to be a royal residence and was converted into barracks for the Army. The Army left the castle in 1923. After a thorough renovation, the complex was opened to the public.

In 1070, Robert de Beaumont founded a collegiate church here. In the 12th century it became a priory. The church on this picture (now a ruin) was built in the 13th century and destroyed between 1820 and 1850.
Perhaps one of Germanys most famous statues stands on guard at the convergence of the mighty Mosel and Rhein rivers the Deutsches Eck (German Corner).
The Statue is a typical Prussian martial style equestrian statue of William I, the first German Emperor it was created in 1897 in gratitude after his death for being the Father of the modern Empire and the unification of Germany.
During WWII it was mistakenly destroyed by artillery when they mistook it for enemy troops and it remained just a plinth until 2 September 1993 when sculptor Raymond Kittl finished producing an improved replica created from bronze plates this time around instead of copper.
I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 24-70mm 2.8 G2 Lens processed in LR, PS luminosity masks and DXO Nik
