(and the next day...)

AAAAAAAAUGH!

So I saw a banner ad on Ravelry with a very similar hat. It was garter rib, so stockinette and not the slipped stitch pattern. It was also in Noro.

I think I'm going to have to give up on the idea of submitting this to a magazine. Maybe I'll work it up on my own and self-publish for free or cheap. I do have interesting ideas for the crown decreases, but it will just look too much like Christa's hat.

Crap.

Friends only, in case it turns into something.

My first time using Noro, and I really like the thick, wooly fabric I got here. But that turquoise can bite me. The colors were so nice until then.

It's a mix of garter and alternating slip stitch stockinette (like on a heel flap), inspired by a hat I saw some woman wearing in a local restaurant. But I don't think hers had slip stitch patterning (maybe Fisherman's Rib?), and looked like a mass produced dealie, made with stripes of different yarns. I'm thinking this is perfect for Noro, and even more perfect for handspun. Which makes me think I should propose a Knitty Spin article, but I don't know how she does those, or if I'll have the time to spinning and knitting the number of samples I have in my head. Hmm...

The cover design and the rough version of the image were sent to Michael Koelsch who began work on combining the source images and preparing to do his painting that's based on them. Ultimately Koelsch combined three photos from Michael Lewis (including this one that was the basis of Alton's head), one from Sam Scholes (the retro TV), and elements that he shot himself to complete the photo composite that the painting is based on.

This shot is from my collection taken at the Vivid Festival in Sydney. www.vivid.com.au A great event that began last year and has been taken to another level this year!

St Mary's church ran a story through it's light display. It was titled "Designing and Nation"

A great title that suited this entire festival I thought!

For a BIGGER impact make sure you view LARGE on black!... it's well worth it!
