Sample presentation slides from UCDA conference talk about designing for social change in Baltimore. The talk, given at Spring Hill College, addressed the Design Coalition (a course at MICA), two design projects that collaborated with local nonprofit organizations, and the design principles that we took used to guide the projects. Our paper will be published as part of the UCDA conference proceedings in the Summer of 2009. This was a collaboration between myself, Virginia Sasser and Mark Alcasabas. Thanks to Bernard Canniffe and Ellen Lupton for their help along the way.

"Consequences by NOOR" is a unique visual project to be launched during the Climate Summit in Copenhagen in mid December, 2009, when the world's attentions is drawn to the event hosting thousands of international delegates, scientists, journalists and activists.
The project shows the humanitarian consequences of climate changes; not calculated future events but actual facts that have devastating effects on the lives of millions of people around the world today: floods, drought, hunger, disease, animal extinction, conflicts, migrations and loss of human rights.
The GOOD brand team led by Doris Yee designed the logo that will lead the branding effort for the global project.

When Genewiz, a leader in the field of DNA sequencing needed a video to tell their company's story, they turned to Design for Social Good.
A D4SG design strike team including an animator, 3-d modeler, writer, editor, producer, videographer and media strategist set forth to tell the story of a company who only ten years ago entered the field and today is a leader in DNA sequencing. They are the code breaker of the DNA of life. They are Genewiz.
When The Reiley Group approcahed Design for Social Good to design a new logo for them the first thing that came to mind was big, bold and brilliant.
The design uses a subtle shint in its backdrop to appear "fresh in the market". In other words, the logo can be used in various media and always remain big, bold and brilliant.
The Reiley Group was founded by Mame Reiley.
