Automne romantique

L'Automne s'alanguit

Prés des coteaux rougis

De pourpre, ocre doré,

Terre de Sienne brûlée.

Dans la brume parée

De longs voiles mouillés,

Les buissons rabougris

Etonnés et ravis,

Ecoutent les violons

De l'arrière saison

Chanter leur mélodie

Au poète endormi.

Les arbres dans le vent

Sont artistes géants,

Assis dans les bruyères

En habits de lumière ;

De leurs archets de pluie,

Ils jouent en harmonie,

Leurs notes rondelettes

En fines gouttelettes...

La chanson se poursuit

Sur l'étang engourdi,

S'accrochant au passage

Aux portes des nuages.

L'Automne romantique

Se grise de musique

Et s'installe en rêvant

Dans la fraîcheur du temps.

"The greatest conquest is the conquest of fear.

The greatest courage is the courage to start over.

The greatest virtue is to care deeply.

The greatest ignorance is ignorance of beauty.

The greatest sin is indifference.

The greatest reward for a life well lived is to have no regrets."

-- Guy Tal, More than a Rock

Another image from an evening on the side of Mam Tor last week. I was tempted to clone out the parked cars but couldn't do it without making a mess so they get to remain!

Paris, between Seine and Tuileries.

Another shot from the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) stairwell at their new building on Princes Wharf No.1 Shed.

I've been meaning to photograph these stairs for a while now for my University staircase project, and just pulled over on my way home from a site visit.

Where stairwells become art!

The stairs get a little more creative as you get near the top of Brady's Bluff. Trempealeau, Wisconsin.

Here's a trio of panorama shots taken from approximately the same spot that documents the change of seasons. The view looks across Wildwing Lake toward the boardwalk that runs along the edge of the lake at Kensington Metropark, near Milford, Michigan.

The three shots, top to bottom respectively, were taken on Oct. 13, 2020, when the waters were aglow with reflections of autumn; Dec. 2, 2020, when the lake was beginning to freeze; and Jan. 29, 2021, when a layer of snow covered the frozen winter lake. Two clicks on the image takes you in for a close look at the details.

Tınaztepe Cave, one of the longest caves in the world

Tınaztepe caves are located in Seydişehir, Konya. The world's third, is Turkey's largest caves. Its total length is 22 km, and its navigable part is 1580 meters. It is a completely horizontal cave except the 64-meter descent at the end. It was opened in 2004 as Cave Recreation Facilities.

Located at the crossing of the Konya-Antalya Highway on the Taurus Mountains and discovered by the French scientist Michel Bakalowichz in 1968, the cave is an important natural wonder.

In addition to stalactites and stalagmites, Tınaztepe Cave offers a different environment to its guests with its unchanging heat in summer and winter in its open section.

Stalactites and stalagmites, a cave with a lake inside. The cave, where daily tours are organized due to the ease of transportation, fascinates those who see it. Tinaztepe actual length of 22 kilometers, one of Turkey's longest cave. One of the three few caves in the world

There is 75 percent humidity inside the cave. An ideal cave for asthma patients

I have nice memories of this spot. We were on the descent from the high-altitude trail to the village of Baad, when we stopped for a rest on a bench. I noticed the lone trees on the mountains in front of us (see my previous photo) and it's where I not only spotted but could also capture the elusive Purple Emperor butterfly!

Happy Window Wednesday, everyone!

On the descent from the Hoher Ifen area we enjoyed some nice views.

This adult Sandhill Crane is poised to rapidly descend to land at Creamer's Field during the Sandhill Crane Festival. I find this position to be rather interesting as they can quickly come down without having to flap their wings until they're just ready to touch down and then a couple of flaps just above the ground to brake for a soft landing.

Taken 21 August 2021 at Creamer's Field, Fairbanks, Alaska.

Stairs into water, Povoação, Azores

On the descent from Cader Idris to Ty Nant I noticed these foxgloves, the drystone wall and the gate ...

Sometimes when things are falling apart, they may actually be falling into place~
