I chose to emulate the example in the module lecture, as I really didn't have access to much else. (My current schedule doesn't give me much time to get out and go to a park or anything.) I had a lot of difficulty not so much with shutter speed, but rather, lighting seemed to haunt me through my entire photo shoot. Not matter what I tried, all of my images were underexposed. Even after correcting within Photoshop, the image still came out kind of dark. Also, because I didn't have my photo editing software, I wasn't able to adjust the resolution either. The three "movement" images I posted were the best of the bunch.

Top Image: Using a stencil and OHP I projected onto specifically placed objects of varying shapes, photographed with a slow shutter speed to allow me to ‘light paint’ the word depth in front.

With the middle and lower image, I also used an OHP to project light as well as quickly moving a torch to create two sets of contrasting light sources.

Depth of Field class assignment

I love this one. I would love wallpaper like this.

My first shot, can't pinpoint what I like about it...

Rule of composition

-The table is the foreground, the curtain is the background, while the glass vase is the middle ground. These different grounds form a dimension in the picture.

How it's a good photo

-The setting of the picture is interesting because the viewer can see through the glass and see the whole picture. There is another vase behind the vase in the middle ground and this creates inception in the photo. The photo also uses other rules of composition. Leading lines can be seen from the decorated tablemat and pattern can be spotted at the curtains.

How can I improve the photo

- The photo has poor exposure because it was taken in low lighting. We can tell that the camera was in front of the sunlight source because light can be seen from behind the curtains. The flash on the camera or taking the photo from the other side of the table could solve this problem. Other than that, the photo could be improved if the top of the curtain was aligned with the top frame of the photo. The photo needs to be tilted slightly to the left until this is achieved.

I had a lot of doing these project because I get to discover new ways to shoot and trying different types of F-stops. If you want to take a sharp image, the slowest speed that is safe to handhold without a tripod is 1/60 of a second or 1/focal length. Also learned about different Lenses that has a different effect.

I chose to emulate the example in the module lecture, as I'm not terribly creative and thought it would be easier this way. Boy, was I wrong! I had a lot of difficulty not so much with aperture or shutter speed, but distance was a pain in my butt. It seemed akward to have the objects so far away from each other, and I wish I had changed things up a bit. Oh well, too late now. The three "depth of field" images I posted were the best of the bunch.

Depth and Perspective- Linear Perspective

It gives depth from the stairs going down.

Just trying to convey a sense of depth in the shot- you really had to be there.

The depth is presented by the strawberries, as the photo is two-dimensional, however the containers for the strawberries is three-dimensional. Used the Apple iPhone 7 camera.

This was a research page I did on Manolo Blahnik for my Visual Studies class. We were asked to research and also replicate a few of his designs.

Blahnik is actually a Spanish fashion designer but is mostly recognised for his shoes.

I didn't use any artistic materials to create this page I simply just used a HB pencil but went over some of the details on the shoes repetitively to add depth and darkness in the areas needed to act as contrast.
