This police barracks in Savannah, Georgia was opened in 1870 and is still in use today. The classic cars however are just for display.

I was going to add a description before posting this, but just realized I forgot to mark this as private...

But, I guess I don't have much to add anyway. I happened to be driving around southwest Detroit and noticed the smoke about a mile away from this house fire. I managed to get quite a few shots from the alley behind the house where a small crowd had gathered. Unfortunately, this happens way too often in Detroit.

Former site of Gemco Department Store, this former department store, which included a supermarket and pharmacy under the Gemco banner was located in Huntington Beach California at 7212 Edinger and Goldenwest was subdivided into different retail stores. The Gemco chain was split up, sold off piece meal with several sites kept by Lucky Supermarket in 1986. This site was converted after 1986, when Lucky Supermarkets, owner of Gemco Department Stores decided to close down this chain. The main portion of the former Gemco was converted to a Lucky Supermarket with a Lucky Pharmacy. When Lucky Supermarkets took over the Savon Drug Store Chain, they converted their pharmacies into Savon Pharmacies. Another section of this former department store was converted into a Toys R Us Toy Store. When Albertsons took over Lucky Supermarkets in 1999, they converted this Lucky Savon Supermarket into an Albertsons Savon Supermaket. The lease now has expired, Albertsons decided not to renew it per staff, and this Albertsons is now closed as of October 11, 2007. Photo of closed store. One of xx photos of this site.

This was my favorite arrangement at the Floral Department in the grocery store. It just felt so Victorianesq to me. I wanted to do it in sepia because I felt it bought out the feel of arrangement better in sepia. The only problem was the focus is off. It focused on the bottom portion of the plant, which is my favorite part of the arrangement, but the topiary part go a little more unfocused and blurried. I hope you all still like anyway!

Happy Holiday my friends.

The history of Denver details the history of the City and County of Denver, Colorado, United States from its founding in 1858 to modern-day. Located on the banks of the South Platte River close to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Denver was founded in November 1858 as a gold mining town. The gold quickly dried up and the city moved to become a supply hub for new mines in the mountains. Denver grew rapidly, becoming the new county seat of Arapahoe County and eventually the state capital. Investors from Denver built a rail line from Cheyenne to western Kansas which traveled through Denver, bringing new people and supplies. New roads and improvements to rail and air travel in the early twentieth century made Denver a hub for transportation. Until World War II Denver's economy was dependent mainly on the processing and shipping of minerals and ranch products. With war looming, Denver was in a prime location for more federal activity, being situated far from either coast. After the war oil and gas companies fueled a skyscraper boom in the downtown area. With the combined spending of the energy companies and the federal government, Denver expanded quickly. Denver went from having a small urban core surrounded by rural farms to a booming downtown dotted with skyscrapers and surrounded by growing suburbs.
