Had my 6 monthly visit to my dentist yesterday. She a large map of the London Underground pinned to the ceiling to view while in the chair!
Maybe I should print this image as the Leopard is being very good at "opening wide". Better than me I think.
“Dental deserts” have left just one NHS dentist per 16,000 people in some parts of the country.
Last month a poll found that one in five people who cannot get an appointment with a dentist have turned to “DIY dentistry”.
Research reveals widespread shortages of dentists, with patients forced to take matters into their own hands.
Polling of 2,200 adults found that 533 had tried and failed to secure appointments in the last 12 months, with the worst difficulties in London and the South East.
Of those, 21 per cent carried out their own dental work or asked someone who was not a dentist to do so. The LGA, which represents more than 350 councils in England and Wales, said the Government must address shortages in NHS dentistry.
The LGA said the public health grant for councils to help provide Dental service has been cut by 24 per cent in real terms since 2015/16, equivalent to a total reduction of £1 billion.

Alpine view abandoned sanatorium
Here we arrive at the Alpine view sanatorium deep in the pine forest and a 8 hour drive from the city, the road up to this Sanatorium was like spaghetti with no road markings and at one point we saw a moose at the side of the road, Unused as a hospital since 1965 this very large complex of buildings still has many items left inside. The Altitude made the air very thin along with wind blowing in the broken windows gave this place a real creepy atmosphere. This sanatorium also had its own cable car system running down the side of the mountain.we had to leave before dark due to the risk of bear attacks in this area. Myself, Rusty, Martin and Dez on this mission..

The University of Michigan and the Colgate-Palmolive Company collaborated on providing a digital version of the important dental journal, Dental Cosmos.
In developing the new graphic interface, the graphics were selected to demonstrate both the continuing research importance of the journal, historical interest, and visual curiosities.
This is one of the early color images in Dental Cosmos. Rubber plates were a major breakthrough at a time when the majority of all adults were partially or completely edentulous (missing teeth), and there was no good way to fit false teeth. False teeth that did not fit caused pain, irritation, infection, and other problems, which was a big part of the dental problems suffered a 100 years earlier by President George Washington. In this image we see some of the first rubber plates (dentures), made possible by the discovery of vulcanization. The huge success of vulcanized rubber in creating comfortable fitted plates later became a huge battle between the rubber industry and the profession of dentistry.
