Here was another of the U.S.'s numerous 1929 art deco skyscrapers. "In the U.S., why, it seems like we've got more 1929 art deco skyscrapers than we've got 1928 and 1930 art deco skyscrapers combined," I have occasionally felt tempted to assert.

Ripping out the concrete flooring simplified the laying of new drains and will also eliminate the slope from the sidewalk up to the interior.
Universal Wrecking Corp. ( www.universalwrecking.com ) was contracted to perform a very technical interior demolition / equipment salvage project that also included exterior demolition of a tank farm and associated piping, pipe bridges and concrete stantions and pads.
Following the interior demolition and equipment removals, UWC proceed outside to the tank farm. Structures were first carefully separated from the building to remain utilizing laborers with torches in manlifts. Once the area had been separated structurally, the outside tank farm was demolished utilizing a Caterpillar excavator with shear and grapple attachment. Skid steers with demolition buckets also assisted. The metals were separated and recycled offsite. Debris was also collected and properly disposed offsite.
Looking at a section of the former Zett Brewery complex, as seen from Lodi Street. Since the site was in such bad shape, the City of Syracuse began tearing it down in 2003 but then abandoned the project shortly thereafter leaving a portion of the site still standing. My guess is that the demolition project was stopped due to money issues. For a while, this large building here, was later used for storage. The Zett Brewery closed for good in 1937. A fire in 1943 destroyed the main building. Located at Court and Lodi Streets in Syracuse, NY.
