And here we are with the group shot of my completed Delta Squad. These guys were a ton of fun (and work) to make and it was so worth it.

The helmets, backpacks, and weapons were all made by CloneArmyCustoms! He makes some excellent parts. All the decals were designed and applied by me, though the leg designs were inspired by AndrewVxtc. Decals cover every surface of the figure, and they turned out really well. Sev's and Scorch's weapons were modified CAC weapons. I drybrushed acrylic black paint all over the figures to give them a really sweet battle-damaged look. Check out the individual shots for a better look!

The delta is the glacial river Jökulsá í Lóni in the south-east of Iceland (Jökulsá = glacial river).

The photos was taken from Raftagil Brú, near Stafafell, looking south over an extensive outwash plain towards the headland at Stokksnes. It was taken in the late evening after a wonderful walk in the rhyolite mountains of the Hvannagil gorge.

A great way to spend a day.

So.. it's been January since my last upload? Whoa, time just flew by the last months. It only seems appropriate to upload a photo I took about 1 year ago, lines of water running back to the north sea following the tide.

Covering 3000 sq km, the Zambezi Delta in Mozambique is one of the most diverse and productive river delta systems in the world. This unique wetland, which is protected under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, features a broad alluvial plain with vast mosaics of grassland, woods, deep swamps and extensive mangroves. Recognised as a global biodiversity conservation hotspot, this remarkable delta is home to a myriad of wildlife, from big mammals such as buffaloes, lions and elephants to water birds such as fish eagles and flamingos, to marine species such as dolphins and freshwater fish. As well as this rich biodiversity, this extraordinary delta not only provides a source of food for Mozambique, but also protects the coast from flooding.

While the Zambezi River Delta is an example of a healthy ecosystem, biological diversity is declining around the world. It is estimated that between 100 and 150 species disappear every day. The International Day for Biological Diversity is held every 22 May to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues such as this. Ratified by 196 nations, the Convention on Biological Diversity is the international legal instrument for the conservation of biological diversity and the sustainable use of its components.

Last week I was sold a Kodak Retina III-C (big C) from a friend, and this is the first test roll from it. Lovely camera, great lens, and a delight to use. Finally I have a "Big C" model to play with!

Gatwick Memories

Delta Air Lines leased a couple of standard bodied TriStars to inaugurate their Atlanta-Gatwick flights in 1978. By 1979, they had their own fleet of three L-1011-500s delivered to operate the service. N753DA - the third of these new L-1011-500s is seen here at London Gatwick on the daily flight DL011 to Atlanta. In the distance, through the heat haze, is one of the Laker Boeing 707s, seen without titles.

N753DA c/n 1189 - L-1011-500 - delivered new to Delta Airlines in August 1980, the aircraft operated with the airline for 20 years before being withdrawn and stored at Victorville in 2001. The aircraft was sold and gained a number of identities throughout the 2000s, eventually being withdrawn in 2013 after a flying career of 33 years!

Apparently, the last commercial TriStar flight was operated on January 7, 2019. More info on the Aircraft design here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_L-1011_TriStar
