of course, stop to kick a pedestrian who has already been hit. From which it followed, of course, that one would never ever -- on pain of deletion from dozens of Christmas card lists across the country -- vote Republican :-)

HSS! sorry that i didn't keep the original. corel feedback filter saved this image from deletion.

My LR deletion efforts are not going well

possible/probable contribution to MM challenge for 10/8/20, theme: "Water"

Didn't have as much time as I would have liked for this one so not my original idea but still one of the highest deletion rates I've had for a MM challenge for a few years!

Didn't set out to do a monochrome shot but as the final image was so close anyway I just gave it a gentle nudge over the line.

Focusing was a huge PITA for this as the focal point kept moving and I was using a wider aperture than normal and a much higher ISO to get a half decent shutter speed. Sure I'm not the only person that faced these issues!

Looking through a folder I had marked for deletion I thought I would post this instead, having nothing else to hand right now.

well, i did it again. accidentally deleted a popular photo that was in explore with 340 faves. my apologies to those who faved and commented.

It’s about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and a pretty soul.

I have been working with Photoshop for some time but have never edited one of my photos in PS to be posted in Flickr. This is my first!!!! Everything in the photograph is as it was when shot. The only change from the orginial is the deletion of twigs. What do you think?

I am happy to announce I have thankfully found my photos for those who were wandering ! I searched through all my files and found some Lightroom catalogs that for some unexplained reason were not all converted together and I found the photos there. Before I lost these photos I had deleted some older versions of Lr that were taking up space in my hardrive and I thought that this is what caused the deletion but it was not. Hopefully this will never happen again. Thank you to Phyllis in particular for helping me out with the recovery software, in the end it wasn't necessary but it is a great tool to have at your disposal. Hope you all are well, cheers.

i am in the process of culling my photostream to 500 images (or so) and returning to non-Pro status. please be patient as deletion becomes a little more difficult with every pass through the stream. may be the end of the summer before i'm done. meanwhile, i'm posting new material very infrequently.

Sufi Sama or Dhamaal is a special dance style unique to Sufis in Pakistan and India. The rhythmic beat of dhol i.e. drums, sometimes accompanied by other instruments, makes men sway and whirl their bodies into unusual and fascinating shapes.

In Sufi shrines in Pakistan, such as the Lal shrine in Sehwan, Sindh, the practice of Sufi whirling is called Dhamaal and is performed to honor Sufi saints. Unlike the Turkish practice, Dhamaal may be practiced by any devotee – priests as well as pilgrims. Dhamaal is usually preceded by the beating of a drum (naghara) and ringing of bells, as pilgrims raise their hands, start to skip steps standing at one place and gradually work into a trance as the beats get faster. As the beats get faster, rhythms change and the drum beats are accompanies by the playing of shehnai.

In fact such practices were not taught by the last prophet of Allah, Muhammad (peace be upon him). These are innovations in Shariah (God's Law).

The Prophet (peace be upon him) states, “The best speech is that which is embodied in the Book of Allah, the Al Quran; and the best guidance is the guidance given by me, Muhammad. The most evil affairs are the innovations ( bid'ah ), and every innovation ( bid'ah ) is an error”

God ordered Muslims not to divide themselves into sects. Innovations and divisions in matters of religion and worship within Islam are considered to be contamination, error, and deviation. Earlier heinous deviations from monotheism, such as worshipping creation, resulted in condemnation by God. (However, innovations in other matters, such as science and technology to improve life, are greatly encouraged.) God, The Most Compassionate, has told us through His last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), when Muhammad (peace be upon him) was nearing the end of his life, that He had completed the religion of Islam. Muslims must recognize that any change in matters of worship is strictly forbidden. No change introduced by humankind, who is under the influence of Satan, could ever add anything positive and would only contribute to the degradation of the completed and perfected religion established by God. All innovations in matters of religion lead to straying, and all straying leads to hellfire. People must not allow any deviation (addition or deletion), even as small as one degree, in matters of worship. If any changes are allowed, those deviations will be compounded by future generations, and the result will be another man made religion, not the Islam as it was perfected by God, The Truth. To build a faith using a “shopping cart” approach or the blind following of any religious leader is inadmissible.

The changing of God’s laws is forbidden in Islam. God condemns religious leaders who alter divine principles. One who attempts to make changes places him or herself on the same level with God, committing polytheism. An example of this would be to make the killing of innocents lawful. The laws of God are perfect and do not need to be “modernized” by anyone. God allows us the freedom to obey or disobey Him by choosing to follow His faith or to follow our own desires. However, He forbids us to change His religious principles.

The spread of sama or dhamal among Sufi orders began sometime around the mid third/ninth century C.E. in Baghdad, eventually finding acceptance and favor in Persian, Turkish and Indian sub continent. The custom of sama evolved in practice over time as it complemented Sufi dhkir, whirling and among some orders dancing and a meal.

Here's a shot of a green heron where the eye, bill and feet are tack sharp but the upper portion of the body is not. Part of the reason for this is that it's a highly cropped image. Part of the issue, and perhaps the main issue, is depth of field. I shoot manual and had set the camera to f/6.3 but I probably should have been at f/7.1 or even f/8. My ISO could have accommodated the aperture change. In any case, I've heard it said many times, if you have the eye in focus, you have a shot. If the eye is not in focus, it's headed for deletion. I had a shot.

I was advised quickly by some loyal contacts that there was some kind of marks on my upload yesterday. I never did see what you did and have no idea what caused whatever it was. Thus, I deleted it. But I thank you all for pointing it out. As you know, I am anything but a photographer and certainly not a technocrat on any level. I've never even had a cell phone. So the chances of me discovering what may have caused the problem are nil. Too bad, because I liked the photo and apologize for the deletion to those of you who commented and faved. However, it was obviously not what I thought it was.

To test as to whether this is a permanent flaw in some part of my process, I've uploaded a SOOC photo of Star and myself approaching the shore in a rowboat on the lake in the rain. Please let me know if you see anything which would lead you to believe the contrary. Remember this is absolutely SOOC. I appreciate your continued observations.

Sorry folks, this is a repost because of an accidental deletion during file purge on flickr.

Saved this one from deletion because it is rare to see a field like this here. I certainly haven't found one since. I believe it was a field of lucerne intended as a fodder crop.

Tssssssss ..... da hab ich gerade wohl Mist gebaut . Wurstfinger habe ich..... Jo, hier ist es noch mal....

...heute zwischen den Regenschauern in Leutkirch, Stadtweiher ...

It's the fun of the chase...have I got the focus, what about the f stop, oh this bothersome tripod (I made myself use it! Not an easy relationship that one). And the moment of download, surprises, deletions, such fun:)

A pastoral fairy tale :-)

Thanks to my dear friends for your continuous support!

Many Thanks in advance for any Comments or Favs they are always appreciated.

This is my 2nd attempt to get birds in flight. There were multiple deletions (thank goodness for digital images)! The opportunity was given to me at Millers Wood, an amazing place to take photographs of a huge variety of wild birds.

Another cloudy day on the hill. It’s beginning to rain now for the 3rd day. I’m glad I was up earlier to get a couple of shots in. I really don’t need anymore right now, I only have 63K photos. They are all on my phone and linked to the Mac. If anyone has any idea about a free program that would sort your photos for you? One with deletion of unclear, out of focus, just poorly photographed image’s, please drop me a tip. I surely appreciate it if you will. Thank you for your visit, fave and comment. Namaste 🙏

I was sitting in my backyard yesterday evening experimenting with the camera. The setting sun struck these leaves in a wonderful way. Except for the framing and the deletion of a branch in upper left corner, this was straight out of camera. Looks like another day is done.

Growing just off to the side of our back deck. Nice flowers but I find it difficult to get a decent photo of them for some reason.. This is about the best I have been able to do after many attempts and many deletions from Lightroom.

This one actually got saved from the heap. I didn't like the original shot at all (not one single bit), and marked it for deletion.

But before it was gone forever, I thought I tried to crop to see if that made any difference. It did, so I put some work into it and here it is :)

EXPLORED :D

this is an extreeemely old photo....

Any ideas? No creative/time to take photos so I'm going through my old photos=]

Deletion? Not sure about this one completely.=]

I wish I knew the story of this beauty yet no owners to be found around the old barn. Looks to me a 60's but for sure a Ford. If anyone wonders why I always shoot with a fast SS it's because my hands still shake recovering from Lyme Disease. Fingers don't do what I ask of them, so carrying and fussing with a tripod is not a doable option as I drop everything. I always look for something to brace my body and arms and hold a deep breath squeezing the trigger slowly but it takes several tries to pull off my vision with many deletions. Doctors say this is a predicament for at least another year and Big If I'm lucky. A bug bite can change your life and perspective of your personal longevity in this stunning Photographic world.

An image uploaded some 9 years ago has just taken its turn in the virtual darkroom for a 'buff and fluff'. The version above makes for (I think) quite an improvement on the original, which I'll leave as a link below for a couple of days before deletion.

Seen here is Peak no. 45102 speeding through Attenborough with a Midland Mainline service to Nottingham and Sheffield from London St Pancras.

The old level crossing gates were still in situ and 'wheel' operated from the signal box. The latter was little more than a shunting frame in fact with signal control ceded to Trent Power Box, a couple of miles down the track, in the late 1960s. If you look closely the signalman has the sliding window open - it must have been a warm day!

Just beyond the foot crossing in the distance can be see a crossover - this gave access to the Chilwell Ordnance Depot, a sizeable operation at the time and one which still saw fairly regular freight workings. Given the tightness of the curves approaching the complex, the trains were usually class 25 operated where the Bo-Bo wheel arrangement was better suited.

Note the wooden waiting room on the left - this was a delightful and quaint structure but, like the more substantial station buildings behind me on the down platform, sadly didn't survive the station refurbishment a few years later.

A Hamburger in Cuxhaven...*i

The Hamburg Lighthouse is a lighthouse in Cuxhaven, built between 1802 and 1804 by the Free Hanseatic City of Hamburg, to which the area belonged at the time.

The lighthouse at the alte Liebe (Old Love) is one of the city's landmarks and was in operation until 2001. It is a listed building in Lower Saxony and is included in the list of monuments in Cuxhaven.

After the deletion of 2001, the lighthouse was offered for private sale, in 2023 the third sale took place to private, and for the expansion of a holiday apartment.
