A Black-tailed Prairie Dog pauses with a mouthful of dry grass, snack food for times during winter when it comes out of its torpid state. Perhaps it also serves as bedding material. Prairie dogs are very organized below ground. They dig sleeping chambers, and a separate poop chamber, which they will seal off when it gets full (and then excavate another). Meanwhile, I've found myself sprawled in prairie dog poop countless times to get a photo. Which of us is farther along the evolutionary road?
The title above carries a double meaning, in that prairie dogs themselves can be snack food for badgers, coyotes, weasels, golden eagles, and so on. I try not to take sides. Let it unfold. Ah, what nonchalance - the luxury of being at the top of the food chain...

Hypnosis edit by a friend on Instagram. I can practically feel the deep hypnotic sleep behind my swirling eyes.
Just stopped by my neighbor’s for an impromptu hypnosis session. Thanks to a powerful strobe light and some verbal suggestion I went into the deeper state of hypnosis for about 10 minutes. My head just flopped over as I went into another hypnotic sleep.
“Sleeping Beauty” is based on a fairy tale by Charles Perrault. After not being invited to a christening, Maleficent, the self-proclaimed “Mistress of All Evil,” curses the infant Princess Aurora to “prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die” before the sun sets on Aurora’s sixteenth birthday. Through the efforts of good fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, the curse is altered to instead cause Aurora to go into a deep sleep that can only be broken by true love’s kiss.
Look closely and you will find Maleficent lurking in the woods.

Intense hypnosis edit by #makethemhypno. This one represents the extreme depth of the deepest hypnotic sleep induced by a powerful strobe spiral and a skilled hypnotist. The glowing eyes represent the inability to turn away as I enter deep hypnotic sleep.
Me going into deep hypnotic sleep via a Zoom hypnosis session on my iPad. The hypnotist used a combination of visual and auditory triggers to freeze me, trance me, then put me to sleep. The giant turtleneck definitely enhanced the experience.

My second Zoom hypnosis session with my neighbor’s niece as she works toward her PhD. I’m amazed by the power of the subconscious mind and how effective hypnosis can alter your state of perception.
