Seville’s palace fortress, the Royal Alcázar, was originally a Moorish fort built in the 10th century by the first Caliph of Andalucia. One of the most spectacular rooms is the Salon de Embajadores (Hall of the Ambassadors.) Its lavishly decorated walls and archways showcase the talent of Sevillian craftsmen.
The construction of the current Alcázar began in the 14th century. It is the best example of Mudejar architecture in Spain. Mudejar style buildings were commissioned by Castilian Christian kings but also included elements of Moorish architecture. It also includes elements of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque.
Church on the Spilled Blood, St Petersburg Russia
This is St Petersburg's most elaborate church, with a classic Russian Orthodox exterior and interior decorated with some 7000 sq meters of mosaics. Designed by architect AA Parland and the archimandrite Ignaty, the church incorporates elements of 18th-century Russian architecture from Moscow and Yaroslavl, and is so lavish it took 24 years to build and went over budget by 1 million roubles - en enormous sum for the times.

Castle Duurstede is a medieval castle in Wijk bij Duurstede in the province of Utrecht in the Netherlands.
The castle originated in the 13th century. Around 1270, Zweder I van Zuylen van Abcoude built a freestanding keep on a raised and moated site near the lost city Dorestad. Until the beginning of the 15th century Duurstede Castle was in possession by the Van Zuylen van Abcoude family, until they were forced to sell it to the bishops of Utrecht in 1449.
Bishop David of Burgundy, who reigned from 1459 to 1496, completely rebuilt the castle. The old donjon was enclosed by new buildings. The still intact burgundian tower was also built around this time. His successors Frederick IV of Baden and Philip of Burgundy also used the castle as their residence, and Philip of Burgundy embellished the castle with renaissance features. Philip of Burgundy settled at Duurstede Castle when he became bishop of Utrecht in 1517. He was accompanied by his court painter Mabuse (Jan Gossaert), who helped to decorate the new palace of his master. At Philip's death, in 1524, Mabuse designed and erected his tomb in the church of Wijk bij Duurstede. After Philip's death, Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor confiscated all territorial possessions of the bishopric of Utrecht, including Duurstede Castle.

Historical country house also to be opened to the public
As of 1 September, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam will be using the historical country house, Trompenburg, as an extra location. Trompenburg, which is close to Hilversum, was built after 1677 by Admiral Cornelis Tromp (1621-1691), the son of the legendary Admiral Maarten Harpertsz Tromp. The residence, that was built to resemble a ship, will be open for use by the Rijksmuseum from 1 April to 1 October for holding lectures, small conferences and small-scale exhibitions. In addition, Trompenburg will also be opened to the public a few times each year.
A monument for the Tromp family
Throughout the years, Trompenburg House has been a home to different families, and has been in the care of the Government Buildings Agency as a monument since 1938. Cornelis Tromp, who was the commander-in-chief of the Dutch and Danish fleet, built Trompenburg as a monument for himself and his ancestors, his father in particular. The Tromp family's glory is the theme of the dome hall - which can be seen as the maritime answer to the Oranjezaal, the central chamber in Huis ten Bosch Palace. The dome hall contains the portraits of father and son Tromp and both their wives, portraits of the ships and the naval battles.
Decoration and exhibitions
Trompenburg will not be used for large exhibitions, as the country residence is too small. However, the Rijksmuseum is considering whether the house could be decorated with art works on a limited scale. Where possible, any art work that is selected will be in keeping with the themes of life on a 17th Century country estate and the maritime history of the period of 1630 and 1690.
Due to the limited capacity of Trompenburg House, the exhibitions as well as the lectures and conferences will all be small-scale. The house will be opened to the public once a month during the April-October season (six times in total). A steward will reside at Trompenburg House.

Took this shot early in the morning last week, of the latest snowfall in my back garden, that painted everything white! It looked so pretty, but melted quickly!
You wouldn't think vegetation could thrive like this in such a hostile terrain, but somehow it does!

As you can see Cleo has no negative emotions towards the tinsel despite out little photoshoot during which she had to wear it as a scarf. She even protects the tinsel against her destructive little brother who thinks that everything is a toy. When I took this photo she was watching the Dragon who was about to decorate the house with toilet paper….
Looking down the inside of the trestle at trout Creek Canyon I noticed it has been decorated for Christmas with green and red paint. It looks pretty fresh, maybe done this year. Someone with lots of Covid time on their hands risked their life to paint the trestle for us.
I've used up the boring titles on the previous mountain photographs so decided to go with something more imaginative. Unable to think of a good word to complete the alliteration "dusk draped d...." I decided to think out of the box. Hope you like the photo and choice to title.
Festively decorated chancel of St. Ludwig, Munich. The romanesque church was built between 1829 and 1844 and has the second largest altarpiece fresco in the world.
I captured this on a very dull day with little light inside the church but ugly haze coming in through the windows, so I had a hard time to get something reasonably usable from post-processing. To top it all off, the shadow of an inattentive photographer disturbs the scene 😄

My beautiful bird decorated!!! 1) stuffed; 2) decorated with herbs, Thymes, Rosemary (I cover my turkey with bacon like a mummy, LOL); 3) in the oven all pretty decorated, juicy and sizzling!!

The Jan Luijkenstraat is said to be one of the most beautiful streets of Amsterdam. The buildings on- and around the Jan Luijkenstraat were all built around 1900, the same time art nouveau was flourishing in Europe. This is why it’s also home to the city's richest variety of art nouveau decorated front doors.

This is the ceiling of the Choir of the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, Chester.
The choir was built between 1283 and 1315 to the design of Richard Lenginour and is an early example of Decorated Gothic architecture.
Making progress with landscaping and decorating me and my siblings' sim. Thought I'd take a break to enjoy it a bit. This bubble tea is delicious. 😍
