Back to work, another short week so it won’t be that bad :-) Most of my co-workers went on vacation leave and will be back to work next year. Since I stayed local for the holidays and had to report 2 days last week and 2 1/2 days only this week, I didn’t file for VL. I’m saving them for the rainy days! :-)

I did a similar photograph last year but felt that it could be improved. I think I prefer this one but I still think improvements can be made. Which one do you prefer?

To go from a nice, standard, styled shot, to this ... I just had nothing else to post honestly. Go with what you know; that's what I always say.
We woke to frost, but the day was glorious, blue sky and the sunshine. I washed up the bird feeders and filled them with clean seed, made sourdough pizza dough, leaving it to rise while we took the dog for a long walk around the small lake by our home.

I think at a stretch, I can get another 30 shots out of the river Gelt.... and I've used up another one here. Its convenient and close and very pretty, but I need to make it last the whole 365!
Still under the weather but should have a chance to look and comment later this evening.
having come from HUGE amount of snow it was fun to have freezing conditions here this morning and i managed to get outside to take some pics of the hail littering our garden. I have not used my macro lens add ons for ages. it also meets the 365 weekly theme (week 5) for circles
This is played with in pixelmator for the 100 group. sharpened, exposure adjusted and then coloured slightly. and coincidentally also fits the 100 group theme of "on the edge"
somewhat cheekily I am also adding this pic to the We're Here gang for the 4th February (is that allowed? even though it was 3rd feb pic?) : Lavender.
Day 34 of 365... Went climbing the falls which are now seasonally icy. Only slipped once, minor damage to the (of course) photo taking finger (!!!!) upon landing. :( Poor Me. Anyhow I love the shadow of the tree on the rock next to the falls, and the HUGE icicles too. I was prevented from climbing closer to get better captures of the icicles... Probably a good idea, all things considered.

OHMYGOSH it was amazing!
Me and my friend, Michal and his mom (who was nice enough to drive us there) were supposed to sit in the 3rd balcony, so we walk up those flights of stairs and when we get there, the lady says, "oh this section's closed of because blah blah (I wasn't paying attention to why at 1st, I was more mad that the section was closed) but then she said these magical words, "instead, you can sit in the center front rows behind the floor!" I mean what kind of luck is that?
My favorite songs they did would have to be: 21st Century Breakdown, Holiday, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Basket Case, 21 Guns, Minority
and last but not least- Good Riddance, Time of Your Life (that is my favorite song by them :)
it's something unpredictable, but in the end is right. I hope you had the time of your life.

I always feel overwhelmed. (in a good way). My thoughts and ideas overwhelm me. I constantly am thinking of what creative thing I'm going to do next. I used to let all of my ideas out by drawing or sometimes painting. The thing about that is that it takes so long to make them. and then thats only one idea out of my head. which means i still have at least 1,000 more. Then I discovered photography. I can let all of my ideas go fast. and with the click of a button I'm satisfied. Oh I love photography.
I'm starting to like this picture more and more. It represents me. I've realized that trying to fit in is boring and not at all fun. Always trying to be the best or impress someone just isn't worth it. Whats worst than ordinary? The picture kinda symbolizes all the things going on inside a middle schoolers head. Its not always easy being crazy. Occasionally I feel like what am i doing? Why can't I just be "normal"? Then I take a look at my awesome friends and remember all the fun times we've had and if we were "normal" none of those things would have happened. So I'm completely happy with myself. I have nothing to hide and I'd rather be anything but ordinary.

The U.S. maternity care system is failing our women
Nearly 1/3 of women in the United States have major abdominal surgery to give birth now...and pre-term births are on the rise. Compared to other industrialized countries, the U.S. ranks second to last in infant survival. Tragically, the number of women dying in childbirth is also on the rise. The CDC warns that the hospital's cesarean rate should not exceed 15%, yet some U.S. hospital's are now delivering half of all babies surgically. The cesarean rate in 1970 was 6%. Now, across our nation nearly 1 in 3 low-risk mothers give birth via c-section, and if they go on to have more children, 95% will be born by repeat surgery. Hundreds of institutions ban VBAC, and babies are no longer allowed to be born breech.

On a more personal note...my first son was born via cesarean due to hospital interventions and "failure to progress." After becoming pregnant with our newest addition, I decided I wasn't going to accept that it meant being cut open again. It meant I had to trust my body's ability to give birth and not the system telling me that my body was broken. After extensive research and exploring, we decided our safest option was to give birth in the privacy and comfort of our own home. I gave birth in July of last year on our livingroom floor to a healthy 7lb 8oz baby boy.
Our bodies aren't broken, the system is.

This it's my new toy gor my photos!I have a couples of ideas for it but I need more time ù_ù
This was a normal busy rainy Monday.
But I'm excited for tomorrow:we're starting the Latin American dance course! I never tried before so I hope not being a disaster XD

Another image taken on our plane ride around Butte County. The Sutter Buttes were covered in fog and low clouds and made for a rather mystical look in the evening light.
