David across-the-street explained that these plums from one of his trees were better than the ones from last week because this plum tree was grafted onto a peach trunk.
David and I shared a ward room while we were in the hospital, and we connected. This portrait was taken from an unusual vantage point with me on a chair and David leaning over his walker while we discussed the future. I just lifted the camera as we talked. I was discharged an hour later. Sometimes a subject feels comfortable enough to give you a glimpse into who they are.
A lesser black-backed gull looks confused by the aggressive response from the small crab it has plucked from the water.
The crab's threats weren't empty. The gull tried picking it up several times but quickly dropped it after an attack from the pincers.

2003 colored pencil and art marker drawing of my brother David drawn from two separate photographs I took of him in his retirement garden.
