A proposal for a private residence in Windward, Oahu, situated above the client owned restaurant. The client’s emphasis on privacy prompted a creative measures to separate and hide the residential complex from the public and the restaurant half of the building below. The residential compartment is almost entirely hidden by the perforated, louvered panels retrofitted to reduce solar gains from south facing window. The “wing” structure is louvered and can be controlled independently or autonomously based on environmental conditions.
