The Ulu is a knife traditionally used by the women of the Inuit. The basic shape is a thin blade with a semicircular edge and a handle in the middle of the opposite side. It is used for skinning and dismembering the hunting prey, filleting of fish and for preparing and crushing the food.

A lone sundown walker.
I titled this sundown image, 'Stranger Danger'......when in all actuality, there were likely no threats at all.
This person may have had a dog on lead.
I especially like how parts of this lone stranger seem to be missing from the image. The light reflections on the bench seat and the top of the backrest, give the illusion that he is partially invisible.

This beach is popular with surfers, but it is very dangerous because of rip currents. Rip currents are complex, can quickly change shape and location, and are sometimes difficult to see. What to look for are deeper, darker-colored water; fewer breaking waves; a wavy surface surrounded by calm water; and anything floating in the sea or foamy, discolored, sandy water flowing past the waves. Rip currents don't always show all of these signs at once, but they can be deadly.
I was struck by how this image feels like it is a metaphor to the state of the world today. There is the precarious, unsustainable balance of an aging man, the storm clouds are gathering ever closer ... and yet the movement forward is not entirely dead.
In an attempt to reinvigorate the joy of bloggage, I'm going to have a play around with new templates and stuff (Hello Kitty FTW?!)
