Though I didn't take this shot in New Orleans, Dawn Richard is from there so it feels right closing out my New Orleans week with this one. I can't believe I have never posted it before because I enjoyed her set so much! What a dynamic performance! By the end of the three songs, I was in love and so sad I had to leave the photopit.
Her new album, Second Line is coming out very soon!
Also sometimes, I have seen her just go by DAWN and I think I've seen it with just a triangle for the A in case you see a poster for the new album like that.

OH SHIT
I remember the first time I heard this I basically shot a load in my pants, if you know what I'm saying.
I'm not sure that my reaction today is any less enthusiastic. This song werks, Werqs, and WORKS!
If you've never heard it, OH I'M SORRY. It's an amazingly beautiful observation about life sung by the diva we now think of as the keeper of Sylvester's flame and it's DEEEEEP house, that starts off with an Acid House acapella intro.
OMG I have to go listen to it!

Karina Bradley is an American singer and songwriter who focuses primarily on Pop, Dance and Electro, but has shown her versatility through some Hip hop and R&B tracks.
Karina was born in the Bronx, NY but has resided in the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania for the latter portion of her life. She is currently working on her debut album with over half of the album completed. Some of her singles that have already been released include “Buy Me That”, “Dance Floor Diva” and “Damn I Look Good”. Karina stated, “Creating my album has been an amazing journey thus far. Each day I wake up with new ideas and concepts for new songs. I love being able to dream a song and make it happen from my thoughts to a complete track. Each track is like the birth of a new KB baby. I conceive it and nurture it and the track grows. Guess I have strong maternal instincts ha. I have been fortunate to travel around the country to work with tons of talented people and different studios. For me I am just so grateful that I am able to do what I love on a daily basis. Some people call me a workaholic, but for me I do not look at it as work, it is the only thing I want to do. I look at it as having a perfect love that I get to spend a lot of time with. I find myself in the recording booth for four or five hours straight. I simply get lost in my work, only to break when nature calls or to fill up my tea and grab a small bite to eat. After that I can be back at it for another 4 or 5 hours. Time just stands still for me when I am recording. I thank God everyday for the opportunities I have been blessed with. My whole life I have dreamt of being a performer and now that time is here“.
Prized possessions!
The vinyl three disc set companion to the live performance released on CD. The extended remixes of songs played in Larry's live set, but these are the full tracks, not mixed.
This collection is OUT OF THIS WORLD FANTASTIC.
The CD is an absolutely magical live recording of Larry Levan spinning in the Paradise Garage, New York City, on Thanksgiving Eve, 1979.
Of course you know, that Larry was good friends with the founder of West End Records, Mel Cheren - who came up with the idea of the extended dance mix - and was best friends with Frankie Knuckles. Larry had the Garage locked up, so Frankie moved to Chicago to spearhead the Warehouse.
* * * These are some of the leading people that birthed an entire culture. * * *
When this came out in 2000, it became THE soundtrack to my home on West 30th. I'm sure my friends MUST've grown tired of it. *blush* But they indulged me and let me work it out. www.flickr.com/photos/ajarda/sets/72157601369973286/
(I STILL love as much as ever.)
Both the CD and the vinyl covers feature glow in the dark white ink! I couldn't capture it, though.
Larry Levan passed away many years ago. Mel Cheren just passed away this December 7, 2007.
I will always honor their legacies.

Glory to God | Praise Dance "Singing of the Millennial Kingdom Descending Among Men"
Introduction
The New Jerusalem has descended from heaven; God’s word has appeared in the flesh. God’s chosen people witness with their own eyes that everything God says is accomplished and fulfilled one after the other, and that God’s word is reigning on the whole earth. The long-awaited Millennial Kingdom has descended to earth. All God’s people are heartily enjoying God’s abundance and proclaiming God’s word. They are singing and dancing to praise the arrival of the day that God is glorified.
Singing of the Millennial Kingdom Descending Among Men
1. The Millennial Kingdom has descended among men, God’s word has conquered the whole earth, reigning on the whole earth, reigning on the whole earth, and everything has come into being and stood fast because of God’s word, because of God’s word, for us to see with our own eyes, for us to see with our own eyes. We shout for joy, and we sing, singing of the Millennial Kingdom having descended to earth. We shout for joy, and we sing, singing of the New Jerusalem descending from heaven. God’s word is among us and lives with, lives with us, accompanying our every act and move, every mind and thought.
2. The only true Almighty God who is self-existing and ever-existing, Your word has appeared in the flesh, living and real for all people to see. Your words from before the ages until today have been accomplished one by one, accomplished one by one and fulfilled one by one. We shout for joy, and we sing, singing of God’s word displaying authority and power. We shout for joy, and we sing, singing of God’s word ruling on earth, on earth. God has gained, has gained greater glory on earth. God’s word has occupied our whole being for us to become God’s manifestation, become God’s manifestation.
3. All people on the whole earth, adult or child, male or female, old or young, are proclaiming God’s word. All people become subject under God’s word and come to worship God. The whole kingdom is a scene of jubilation. We shout for joy, and we sing, singing of the coming of the day God gains glory. We shout for joy, and we sing, singing of God’s deeds having been revealed. Only the practical God is the spring of living water, the spring of living water, ever-flowing, for us to enjoy, for us to enjoy and to nourish our hearts.
4. The beautiful prospect of the kingdom is bright and even more infinite. All God’s people are beaming with smiles in heart, for what has long been expected has now become a reality. How could we not dance for joy and give glory to God? We shout for joy, and we sing, singing of and praising God’s almightiness and wisdom. We shout for joy, and we sing, singing of God’s work having been crowned with success. We shout for joy, and we sing. The practical God is personally leading us into the good land of Canaan to enjoy God’s riches, to enjoy God’s riches.
