With the start of another NFL season, I'm sharing this photograph of AT&T Stadium at sunset taken a few months ago during our anniversary road trip. As I'm sure many can figure out, the Dallas Cowboys are my favorite team and have been since I was a child and old enough to pick one. While I have had the opportunity to see them play live in person on two occasion (both in Tennessee at the Titans stadium), I have never gotten the chance to see a game in Texas on their home field. And, while this still was not a "game", we did take time to do the stadium tour while in Arlington and see parts that would not be accessible on a game day anyway. It was very cool and worth my time and money to experience parts of the stadium that I would not have seen any other way but an actual "game" is still on the bucket list...

What does a highway in Dallas have to do with Denton history? Quite a bit. Our history will always be tied in with Dallas and Fort Worth. We once called ourselves "The Top of the Golden Triangle". I asked someone from those two cities once what it was like to be the bottom of the Golden Triangle. He answered that at least it was on a sound base. The American highway system is for all rights and purposes the "Eighth Wonder of the World,." It's just too common place for us to see it clearly. The fact that it links Denton to Dallas is a whole cultural and economic chapter by itself.
I mentioned elsewhere that I had to see Dr. William B. Snyder after he performed surgery on my retinas (the lining of the eye). After the Medical Arts Building in downtown Dallas was torn down, Dr. Snyder and Texas Retina Associates moved to this building in north Dallas, and then from there to another location, still. I gave a copy of one of these shots to Dr. Snyder as a thank you gift for saving my eye sight.
