today my dad died, and I no longer have my biggest fan

This is going to be a little deep.

I got into photography because of my dad, we would go on trips and he would pull out the 35mm(s)! I loved the photos!

Back in high school I always used those cameras downtown Chicago.. buildings, light trails, windows, doors, etc

For some reason I stopped....it was always in the back of my mind

Years later Photography came up because of something my Oncologist said to me: I needed a hobby

I had been sending my dad cell phone photos of storms and sunsets in Arizona. It all clicked I should buy a DSLR and the rest is history....39 national parks later 350,000K photos

I have my hobby thanks DAD.

RIP ....

Rod Stewart said it best:

"We got but one shot at life, let's take it while we're still not afraid

Because life is so brief and time is a thief when you're undecided

And like a fistful of sand, it can slip right through your hands"

Just a box of dust now

I miss my dad

This dad is taking care of his two grackle babies. They're big enough and old enough to feed themselves and often do but as long as dad is willing to cater to them they will take advantage of it.

The juveniles ducked down when dad came flying in fast with this big fish.

You have fulfilled your purpose here on earth, Dad...go to Mom. My father is whole again after passing yesterday. I will miss you, but find comfort knowing that you are happy again with mom. God Bless and see you later, dad.

Thank-you to all who take the time to comment on my photos, it is greatly appreciated!

Lake of Menteith...if only the Osprey came as close!

We were so very fortunate to see this Western Kingbird nest recently. She was sitting on the nest when we first saw it. When we returned a couple weeks later, the babies were hiding under her. They appeared to be close to fledging so we looked in on them a few days later to find them out of the nest.

Dad was standing guard against Crows and other invaders.

It was such a treat to see them just briefly through the nesting process at a respectable distance. I waited to post until they were gone.

Challenge: Inspired by a Photographer. My dad has always been and is still a photographer. In this photo are images of one of his favorite subjects and the camera given to him by his parents. Dad...always an inspiration!

Dads old camera (with bellows!! lol..) on new Joby GorillaPod tripod. Back when you had to manually hand crank the film and watch the little window for the number to increase. lol..

Still have to finish going thru all of dads camera stuff. I love reading the old user manuals!! Being self taught, I always learn something. ;-)

Created for Crazy Tuesday theme = Old & New. HCT!

It has been roughly a month since Dad left us for the journey after life. I feel a huge void and don't know how to fill it.

He was my Father and Guru both.He taught me the basics of life/photography and without him I am at loss of my inspiration.

Posting this image of 'Swargarohini Peaks (Ladder to Heaven)' in his memory on the day of Guru Purnima. _/\_
