The Inntel Hotel in Zaandam/Netherlands is definitely the main attraction of the city but also of the whole country.
The twelve-storey-high hotel tower with 160 rooms is a stacking and interpretation of various green-painted house types typical of the Zaan region, ranging from a stately notary’s dwelling to worker’s cottages. ‘The Blue House’ has been inspired by the work Claude Monet painted at Zaandam in 1871.
Construction finished in 2010, design by WAM architecten.

Glory bush, Lasiandra or princess flower (Tibouchina urvilleana), a native of Brazil, grown widely as a garden plant.
The flower has 10 stamens. Five stamens are longer than the others. The pollen is released from a pore at the tip of the anthers which are the clawlike ends of the stamens. The anthers also act as a landing pad for bees which in the wild pollinate the flowers by buzz pollination which involves the bee grabbing onto the flower and moving their flight muscles rapidly, causing the flower and anthers to vibrate, dislodging pollen.
The style and stigma extend beyond the anthers.

Les fenêtres translucides, protégées selon le principe de l'éco-conception, créent différentes qualités de lumière. Ils garantissent des conditions visuelles et thermiques optimales été comme hiver.
The particular design of the L’Arbrisseau neighborhood centre is emphasised by its untreated aluminium and glass sheathing. The transparent opening windows offer different views. Translucide windows, protected according to the principle of eco-design, create different qualities of light. They guarantee optimum visual and thermal conditions in summer and winter.

The Wheeling 1776 was designed to mirror elements of the N&W's bicentennial SD45. It couldn't be more fitting to have it lead over the bridge to the east end of Rook still bearing the "Norfolk and Western Railway" name! The bridge below is the abandoned west end branch to get to a lower level from the high grade.
