A digger removes the final fragment of this former Victorian gasholder's telescopic rising container structure, in readiness for clearing the interior and laying the foundations of a new circular apartment block (part of the 'Broadway East' development designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners) which is due to be built within the iron frame.
This is one of the former Bethnal Green gasholders which stands alongside the Regent's Canal.
The building to the right is Carliol House and it is to be spared demolition. It was built in 1924 and for many years was the headquarters of the North-Eastern Electricity board.

Richborough Power Station cooling towers on the eve of their demolition, basking in their final sunset.
This old farm house has been partially hidden for years in dense woods. The entire tract of land is being cleared and it appears that this old home is slated for demolition. I haven't been able to determine the history, but it is in the center of Barboursville, Virginia and probably dates to the late 19th century.
The old Building did no longer fit in the Spirit of the Age. All overlooked by the the Church of our Lady.

Lafayette Building demolition 01/10
I went back to the 2010 photography folder to find something and now I will probably be stuck there for awhile. I decided to edit this one again, using silver efex pro this time. I think this was sort of the beginning of the "corner" architecture series, two years before I really started that series. ha
This charming little house has been scheduled for demolition, guess they're going to put a parking garage or something there.

After some real destructive action, most of the cars in this round of the demolition derby were no longer moving. Smoke and steam poured out of engines and tailpipes. The Lone Wolf car got permanently stuck against a cement wall.

As part of the transition from fossil energy and CO2 emissions, this coal-based powerstation was decommissioned a few years ago. After being stripped it was demolished on 7 Oct, 3 days before this was taken, using explosive charges.
Out of use since 2023 and on a piece of land slated for redevelopemt, the P&H mill that backs onto the Peel Basin has been heavily tagged before its inevitable demolition.
Oh No ! Bentley Heath Signal Box is being ripped apart like a Christmas Cracker, with little respect for the yaers it has stood there guarding Mill Lane & The Railway.......10/02/2008
The end of an era, I guess. Birthdays would have been celebrated here. Holidays. People may have been born here....died here. This house would have stood witness to happy times and tragic times. And time took its toll until finally a decision was made and a wrecking crew called in.
As we travelled south on US 1 through Maine on our east coast road trip, we came across this scene in a rural area. I love discovering the old, the grungy, the rusted and rotten artifacts -- but this was sad. Once upon a time this was, undoubtedly, a wonderful house. No,...a home.
It was about time somebody came to tear down that old crappy houses in Oudewater...
3,5 centuries is long enough for a house, time to build something new in a modern style ;-)
