The struggle of the Black American population for greater civil rights.
Initially, these *Black Dada* paintings were, to me, merely abstract art.
Then I visited one of the *Blackboxes* in the museum to watch his black-and-white films.
There, I saw a protest group of Black Americans, filmed in a staccato, blurred style. I immediately made the association—seeing these Black people in white tops and dark trousers, bouncing excitedly within the group, fueled by the adrenaline of being pursued by the police and other white people.
Adam Pendleton (b. 1984) is an American conceptual artist known for his multidisciplinary practice, which encompasses painting, silkscreen, collage, video, performance, and text-based art. In his work, he frequently engages with the exploration of language and the recontextualization of history through the appropriation of imagery.
The artist divides his time between New York City and Germantown, New York.
His art has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, the New Museum, and in other international exhibitions, including the Triennale at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. He has been named twice to *Forbes* magazine’s "30 Under 30" list.
In 2024, he received the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award for Painting from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In an interview with *Bomb* magazine, Thom Donovan describes Adam Pendleton as “an extraordinary artist capable of synthesizing disciplines and media, creating—together with his collaborators—*Gesamtwerke* [total works of art] that nevertheless remain drafts of a broader, essayistic practice.
His works—like those of his numerous avant-garde predecessors—are, in the truest sense of the word, experimental. He creates a laboratory in which our social and political desires can become visible, albeit only fleetingly. … Although Pendleton’s work often leaves us with aporias and blind spots, we sense the power of historical matter organizing itself and finding form beyond representation and essence.”
Pendleton frequently juxtaposes images, language, music, and concepts drawn from diverse fields—such as philosophy and major historical currents—thereby creating complex works that invite manifold interpretations. He has often focused on significant moments in African American history, such as the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and the more recent Black Lives Matter movement, which emerged in the wake of the killing of Trayvon Martin.

Zunächst waren diese Black-Dada-Gemälde für mich nur abstrakte Kunst.
Dann besuchte ich eine der Blackboxen, um mir seine Schwarz-Weiß-Filme anzusehen.
Da sah ich eine Protestgruppe schwarzer Amerikaner, stakkatoartig und unscharf gefilmt. Ich hatte sofort die Assoziation dieser schwarzen Menschen in weißen Oberteilen und dunklen Hosen, die in der Gruppe aufgeregt herumhüpften, aufgeputscht vom Adrenalin durch die Verfolgung durch die Polizei und andere Weiße.

Pendleton stellt häufig Bilder, Sprache, Musik und Konzepte aus verschiedenen Bereichen wie Philosophie und wichtigen historischen Strömungen einander gegenüber und schafft so komplexe Werke, die vielfältige Interpretationen zulassen.
Er hat sich oft auf bedeutende Momente in der Geschichte der Afroamerikaner konzentriert, wie etwa die Bürgerrechtsbewegung der 1960er Jahre und die jüngste Black Lives Matter-Bewegung, die nach der Tötung von Trayvon Martin entstand.

In this work, I have embraced the movement's core principles of anti-art, absurdity, and political critique. The composition is a chaotic assemblage of found objects, including a fragmented pocket watch, an inverted map of Europe, and newspaper headlines like "ORDNUNG IST TOT" ("Order is Dead"). By subverting the traditional portrait with a gas mask and contrasting industrial imagery with fragile biological elements, this piece aims to capture the disorientation and disillusionment that defined the Dada era.

The most numerous Kingfisher in the country. Common inhabitant of open country with some trees cover, not necessarily near freshwater. Usually found perching a few meters above ground on branch, poles, signboards and high tension cable wire. When disturbed it wil quickly dash off with a loud calls.

This one took us a liltle more time, but i think the result is very moody!!! My favourite...but the model and the clothes helped a lot...
