These birds are annoying. You cannot get close to them. If you do, it's only by accident, because you did not know the bird was in the tree you approached until it leaves at 150 mph, cackling at you all the way. VERY annoying...

This guy is drying his wings so he go catch more food at Lafreniere park, Metairie, Louisiana. They don't have the oil on their feathers to keep them water resistant because they are diving birds that swim under water to catch food.

...jedenfalls in den schweizer Bergen.

Dort oben auf 1800 müM liegt noch gut ein Meter Schnee und dieses winterliche Ambiente mit leichtem Schneefall kam uns sehr gelegen.

Aufnahmen des Sperlingskauzes bei Schneefall war bis gestern nur ein Traum.
