The Governor met with the fourth grade class of Lake Forest Elementary School to present a proclamation declaring the month of October as Cyber Security Awareness Month, which kicked off a series of presentations done by the Delaware Department of Technology and Information in schools throughout the state.

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the University of South Carolina’s SC Cyber, hosted a cybersecurity summit aimed at helping small and mid-size businesses develop, evaluate, and strengthen their cybersecurity programs. Immedion was the presenting sponsor of the summit.

“We were excited to partner with the U.S. Chamber and the University of South Carolina’s SC Cyber on the summit,” said Chamber President and CEO Ted Pitts. “When our data is secure, businesses can grow. Cyber security means job security, and South Carolina is leading the way nationally on information security innovation.”

The Cybersecurity Summit brought together top experts from government, law enforcement, and the private sector to discuss cybersecurity threats to the private sector, challenges for small and mid-size businesses, and public-private collaboration on cyber incident response.

If your business falls victim to a ransomware attack, time is of the essence.

Your first step should be to isolate the infected systems to prevent further damage.

Once you've done that, assess the damage to determine the extent of the attack and identify which files

and systems have been affected. Contact local law enforcement to report the attack and gather evidence that

could help identify the perpetrators. Check your backups to see if you have recent, unaffected copies of your data,

and use them to restore your systems if possible. As a last resort, consider paying the ransom, but be aware

that doing so does not guarantee that your data will be restored and may encourage further attacks. Finally,

implement security measures to prevent future attacks, such as using anti-malware software, regularly updating

your systems and software, and training your employees to recognize and avoid potential threats.
