One of the most exquisite small elapids in Australia

I was stoked to find another one in a spinifex clump over the weekend in the southern SA mallee. A small venomous snake with quite an attitude!

A onça-pintada é uma excelente caçadora. As patas curtas não lhe permitem longas corridas, porém lhe proporcionam grande força, fundamental para dominar animais possantes como antas, capivaras, queixadas, tamanduás e até mesmo jacarés. Ocasionalmente esses felinos atacam e devoram grandes serpentes (jibóias e sucuris), em situações extremas. Na Venezuela foram registrados casos de onças a devorar sucuris adultas. Enquanto os outros grandes felinos matam suas vítimas, mordendo-as no pescoço, a onça o faz atacando-as diretamente na cervical, graças a suas mandíbulas poderosas, as mais fortes de todos os felinos e a segunda mais forte entre os carnívoros terrestres. Esses felinos frequentemente matam animais como a capivara e pequenos macacos mordendo lhes o crânio, sendo o único felino a fazer isto. A mordida de uma onça pode facilmente atravessar o casco de uma tartaruga. Apesar disso, a onça não se furta em comer pequenos animais se a chance lhe aparece.

Manufactured in Liechtenstein from the late 1940's through 1972, the Curta is a remarkable mechanical calculator, capable of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It is operated by geared sliders and a hand crank, hence the resemblance to a pepper mill. It is a very high-precision and rugged device, and, despite the clockwork-like mechanism, requires little maintenance. The tactile design that allowed numbers to be entered with a single hand without extensive visual attention made them especially popular among road rally navigators and pilots. This is a sample of the larger "Type II" Curta, dating from 1968.

Bardicks are a small venomous snake native to southern parts of Australia. This one, from the Margaret River Region of WA, was found in coastal habitat where the species seems to thrive.

Opgekweekt uit zaad, een leuke Australische soort.

Tenia pensat pujar a buscar el Irizar i2e que ara està a R.Font però ja em vaig desviar al veure un 60xx al H16, després, al pujar al metro a Glòries, sento per megafonia que només funciona de Hospital de Bellvitge a Clot i de Torres i Bages a Fondo, degut a una tercera persona (un suïcidi).

No m'ho penso més i pujo, arribem a Clot i veig un 33xx amb el cartell de TMB per Guipúscoa, i just gira i obre la porta, servei substitutori! Pujo i quan sortim ple de gom a gom, a Fabra i Puig en creuem amb els altres dos articulats fent el llançadora, arribem a Torres i Bages i baixo, el bus abans de continuar cap a Sant Antoni, s'està per allà fins que veig que està parlant amb un mando i el primer s'en va, trec la càmera, ajusto el temps d'exposició i clack! Al fons, les cases dels retirats legionaris.

Al final hem vaig trobar al Juanjo i després al Ferran, vam anar a veure al Mariano i cap a casa que ja es tard!
