In fact the whole village is named after the Saviour. Sotira in Greek means Saviour. Sotira is a well-known village in the Ammochostos (Famagusta) area of Cyprus and plenty of old churches have survived in the village centre. The "Church of the Metamorphosis/Transfiguration of Christ" is currently closed. There is archaeological work going on, but the building was too small anyway and, in the 20th century, had been replaced by the "Church of the Metamorphosis/Transfiguration of Jesus". I'll come back to this interesting change of title. This old church here goes back to the 13th century, back to the time of the crusades and the French occupation of Cyprus. The building began as a simple barrel roof construction. In Venetian times, the dome was added, and the spire, also in Venetian style, is a 19th century product (still built during the Ottoman occupation). The archaeological dig showed that this church is resting on foundations of a fifth century Christian basilica. So, the question of who the Saviour is, has always been central to this village. Metamorphosis or Transfiguration denotes the visible appearance of Jesus, not as man, but as God. But "Christ"? Christ is already a title presupposing divinity, no need to transfigure here. That is why, I would guess, that in the 20th century the title was changed to transfiguration of Jesus. It makes more sense. Sense is, of course, in the eye of the beholder. If, as Christian doctrine has it, Jesus Christ was one person, but had two natures (God and Man), and if the Trinity consist of three persons, but having only on nature, there is trouble if you apply Aristotelian logic. Things are made not easier by the gospel of John which stipulates that Christ was always there with God and, therefore, had pre-existence. If you find this difficult, it only means that your mind is working. The question of who the Saviour is is not a puzzle the mind can resolve. But if you sing the question, turn it into sound, or into vision, you may be on a different path. Fuji X-Pro3.

After a disappointingly clear sky and dull sunrise at Sutton Heath on Thursday I stumbled across Iken Fen whilst driving back to the office. Luckily the sky was coming to life a bit more so managed to get something from the day.
"Comin' at ya!!" What a pleasure to have our friends' crazy puppy, Liza, join us for our few days' getaway on San Juan Island, WA. Rescued in Mexico 6 months ago, she is the sweetest, scraggiest, friendliest little treasure.

I got the classic castle itch yesterday, I thought I'd practice. And see how far my bley brick extends to. Nothing fancy, just a big ol' tower. I left the interior blank in case I get some motivation to go back and put something in there.

The Belgian Air Force organized an amazing open day and airshow at training base Brustem in 1996. One of many highlights was this French Crusader of 12 Flotille from Landivisiau.

Constructed around a massive particle cannon and also equipped with ion guns and anti-fighter turrets, these destroyers decisively end space fleet battles with overwhelming force.
The engine design here was actually originally intended for the Restoration Crusader I made a while ago. I really like the angular and aggressive engine design, but it wasn't really meshing with the more reserved angles of that model's body. I ended up coming up with a different engine design for that model but I kept these and finally made a new ship that I think works better with them.

Here’s my second tank build: the Crusader Mk. III. While the real thing raced across North Africa in desert camo, this one instead takes after Girls und Panzer, where it sports a sleek metallic blue finish. The ever-exuberant Rosehip takes command!
The original plan was to have this model at 1:35 scale, but sand blue's limited parts availability ended up making it slightly larger in order to maintain visual fidelity. It’s a little closer to 1:32 now.
I almost never build anything castle related despite it being one of my favourite themes in the early 80's. I did like how you used to have to build the horses :)

Having just escaped the flaming tombs located underneath the library in Venice, Indiana Jones and Elsa Schneider make their way to find Henry Jones, Sr. while being chased by Kazim and his fellow Grail Guardians.
I was somewhat hesitant to build this scene... it differs greatly from the actual scene in the movie, but hopefully it should appear to be kind of recognizable.
