Transfăgăraşan pass, a paved mountain road crossing the southern Carpathians of Romania. It was build in the 1970s by the communist regime and still connects the historic regions of Transylvania and Wallachia.

 

Something I just learned from Wikipedia:

The Transfăgărășan was constructed between 1970 and 1974 during the rule of Nicolae Ceaușescu as a response to the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Soviet Union. Ceaușescu wanted to ensure quick military access across the mountains in case of a Soviet invasion.

IJMUIDEN AAN ZEE - The "King Seaways" is a cruise ferry of the Danish shipping company DFDS Seaways. The ship will be used for the route between IJmuiden and Newcastle Upon Tyne. The ship was built in 1987 under the name MS Nils Holgersson for TT-Line by Schichau Seebeckwerftnederland

This American Robin was looking closely in the grass for dinner a few days ago. Never did see her find anything.

All perfectly characterizing my dear loons who remain still, providing the ideal canoe companions and the perfect example of how to best utilize the lake. Here, the male shown in the morning fogs which now characterize the lake, they will stay until the first signs of ice arrive.
