Looking back after my short 15 minute visit to Spirit Island, which is right behind on the left. The island is special but it's those peaks that surround it on the southern end that make it iconic.
"In 1907 Mary Schaeffer, a wealthy Quaker from Philadelphia, learned of the mysterious lake. Following a map obtained from Samson Beaver, Mary explored the valley and lake and later wrote about her adventures, making the area a popular tourist attraction in years to follow. She called the box canyon where it sits “the Hall of Gods”. In comparing it to another place she knew well, she said “If Lake Louise is a pearl, Maligne is the entire pearl necklace.” Wikipedia

Occasionally the lighting was quite special as we toured the islands. The sun tried its best but never quite managed to break through the stubborn clouds
I've never liked cruise ships. I have friends who rave about what fun they have on them. To me a place where, for days on end, every aspect of your life is under the control of others just doesn't (pardon the pun) float my boat. Cruise ships are in my mind akin to being ordered into military service, being placed in hospital, or being sent to prison. One of those behemoths might look nice to you, but this is what I see....
A Northern Harrier cruising across the grasslands with a look of determination on her face. This is another image taken on a recent outing for Northern Harriers in Central, NJ. The weekend is here! Thanks for stopping by~!
