The Crimson-rumped Toucanet is not the only species of Aulacorhynchus toucanet whose rump is red - but it is the only red-rumped member of the genus in northern South America, because of this, it is unlikely to be confused with any other members in its genus. Crimson-rumped Toucanets are fairly common in humid montane forest from southwestern Venezuela south to southwestern Ecuador. A noisy, inquisitive, social bird, this species is usually found in pairs or small groups foraging for fruits, invertebrates, small vertebrate prey in the canopy. doi.org/10.2173/bow.crrtou1.01

Crimson Rosella, Australia

Will be away from Flickr for a few days.

This is a lookout spot at Bald Hill, Stanwell Tops just south of Sydney. These two Crimson Rosellas landed and stopped for a few seconds before flying off.

Crimson Rosella (Platycercus elegans)

From a trip to Mt. Macedon on this day in 2019.

The crimson-fronted barbet, also called Sri Lanka barbet, is an Asian barbet endemic to Sri Lanka where it inhabits tropical moist lowland forests up to 1,300 m elevation. It has a mainly green plumage and wings, a blue band down the side of the head and neck, and a black crescent behind the eye.

I have tried to delay the frosts, I have coaxed the fading flowers, I thought I could detain a few of the crimson leaves until you had smiled upon them; but their companions call them, and they cannot stay away.

The Crimson Rosella (Platycercus elegans) is a parrot native to eastern and south eastern Australia. It is commonly found in, but not restricted to, mountain forests and on rare occasions they visit my garden for a free meal.

These Dwarf maple seedpods are like beautiful earrings hanging from the small branches, it stands over the waterfall by the pond,

Beautiful delicate finely cut foliage glistening on a sunny day,

I planted this tree when the pond was built,

Disturbed by my presence, a Crimson Rosella (Platycercus elegans) waits on the gutter while I put out more seeds for the hungry throng.

I really appreciate any Views, Faves and Comments and I will try to visit your sites in due course. However I still have a bit of catching up to do after a 6 month break from Flickr. Thank you all so much.
