They were a mob of tenacious, overbearing, incredibly loud, stubborn, four-legged terrorists, obstinate, robust, highly spirited riot of dogs, and we loved them - The Motley Crew...

Burlington Northern train Nos. 103 and 13 trade crews at Burke, Illinois, on April 7, 1990. Train 103 with GP39M No. 2830 was in the siding at Burke after delays and picking up cars at Eola created some concern that the crew would not make it to the next crew change at La Crosse, Wisconsin. Instead of sending out a new crew to dog catch the train somewhere, a clever solution of exchanging crews was used where No. 103’s crew would trade places with the crew of a higher priority train. In this way, No. 103’s former crew, with fewer hours of service left to them, would step aboard the hotter train and make the crew change point before “going dead on the law.” The hot train’s crew, with more available hours, would slog along with their “new” train, but they too would make the crew change point before going dead. I’m not sure how the crews felt about the situation, but it was a great way to keep the railroad fluid.
A pair of intermodal trains departed Chicago every early afternoon—Nos. 3 and 13—somedays with train 13 shadowing 3 by a block or two. This day was no different as No. 3 pounded past the stopped freight without stopping. The exchange of crews was going to be with No. 13, which came into view only a few minutes later. After making the crew “exchange,” train 13 took off like a bat out of hell with the hours-short crew. Burke siding’s signal blinked from red to yellow to green, and once again No. 103 headed west, albeit not as fast as the trains in front of it. The dispatcher got two hot trains around a slow freight in single-track territory and prevented a crew from dying on the law, all in one well orchestrated move.

EN On the weekend of July 18/19, 2026, the Stoomtrein Goes Borsele (SGB) organized its first multi-day event in several years: Spoor vol Avontuur.
Among the guests was the Plan U trainset 151 from the 2454 CREW foundation. Running as train 508, the diesel multiple unit has just departed Hoedekenskerke heading towards Goes.

Te gast was onder andere het Plan U treinstel 151 van de Stichting 2454 CREW. Als rit 508 is de dieseldrie zojuist vertrokken uit Hoedekenskerke richting Goes.
NL Het was op 3 oktober 2026 fijn fotograferen bij de Stoomtrein Goes - Borsele (SGB). Op deze museumlijn was een fotorit georganiseerd met de 2454 van de gelijknamige Stichting 2454 CREW en enkele goederenwagens in de hoofdrol.
Te Langeweegje werd de trein -toevallig genoeg allemaal van Franse origine- opgewacht terwijl deze van Kwadendamme richting Hoedekenskerke bewoog.

Nee dit is niet de Kippenlijn, maar het enkelsporige deel tussen Deventer en Olst. Het leek me leuk om de rondrit op 22 november 2025 daar vast te leggen. Per toeval kwam het daar perfect uit met de zon. Die straalde precies op het stukje spoor op dit tijdstip.
Treinstel 904 gehuurd door Keolis rijdt nu onder CREW's vlag een donateursrit van Amersfoort naar Amersfoort via Zwolle, Deventer, Arnhem en Utrecht.

On a cold, wet Saturday night in Bathurst, up SSR Dubbo to Botany Fletcher's service 8148 lead by FIE001+FIE002+FIE003 is seen standing at the platform whilst a crew change is taking place.

What a beautiful site this morning along the Blue Ridge Parkway (MP 95) as the second operational SpaceX Crew Dragon mission, Crew-2, with four astronauts headed for the International Space Station flew by. The crew of the Louisville, New Albany & Corydon always carries a chainsaw on the walkway of LNAC CS9 #86, a re-engined ALCo S4, and the reason is clear. Approximately 6 miles north of its home base at the Lucas Oil plant in Corydon, IN, the train is approaching Corydon Junction at New Salisbury, where the shortline interchanges with Norfolk Southern.
The plaque to RAF Halifax bomber MZ311 which crashed on Cleeve Hill on 26th August 1944. The memorial bears the names of the mixed Canadian/British crew who lost their lives.

Op zondag 15 november mocht het mooi opgeknapte treinstel 151 van de Stichting 2454 Crew (complimenten!) weer roestrijden, en wel in het RAS-gebied Zevenbergschen Hoek Aansluiting. Het treinstel staat tijdelijk gestald bij de SSN in Rotterdam, maar door werkzaamheden tussen Rotterdam en Dordrecht kon Zevenbergschen Hoek alleen via een omweg via Utrecht en Tilburg bereikt worden. Op de terugweg was er een planmatige stop in Woerden, waardoor in slechte lichtomstandigheden een foto kon worden gemaakt.

The UP QNLBVJ with an ex-UP NS SD9043MAC, gets handed over to an NS crew at Villa Grove. They will take the train to Sidney, where it'll interchange with the NS and head east on the Lafayette District.
KCS 4807 leads the charge of the Eastbound CPKC I166 headed for interchange with NS at Meridian. We capture 4807 coming across the wooden trestle over Crew Lake.
