They were not for the weak-minded.
They were a mob of tenacious, overbearing, incredibly loud, stubborn, four-legged terrorists, obstinate, robust, highly spirited riot of dogs, and we loved them - The Motley Crew...
Turkey Vultures seem to have a "world weary" expression, as if they have seen it all, and there's nothing that can surprise them.
They truly are nature's clean-up crew, and when there is a group circling overhead, it's a good sign there's been a kill.
I read some time ago that in Africa, poachers kill vultures, as they would provide clues to the game wardens that there had been an illegal kill, and that's how they were finding the poachers. The kill of the vultures obviously created a lot of problems, as they are such an important part of the ecosystem.

In den 1930er Jahren waren die von Bentley in Derby gebauten „leise Sportwagen“ niedriger und schlanker geworden. So wurde 1933 der Künstler Charles Sykes, der Designer des Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy, beauftragt, ein neues Maskottchen zu entwerfen.
Sykes entwarf einen einzelnen Flügel mit einem nach vorne geneigten „B“ im Art-Deco-Stil, mit Facetten, die es dem „B“ ermöglichten, von beiden Seiten betrachtet richtig zu lesen. Der einzelne Flügel war jedoch nicht beliebt, also wurde das Design geändert, um ein Flügelpaar zu zeigen.
Ein alternatives nach hinten geneigtes Flying B war auch für Overdrive-Bentleys der Serien MR und MX erhältlich, um ihren sportlichen Charakter zu unterstreichen. Die Besitzer mussten daran denken, diese Maskottchen seitwärts zu drehen, bevor sie die Motorhaube öffnen, oder riskieren, die Karosserie zu verbeulen.
Die Rückkehr des Flying B
Nach dem Krieg erschien eine kleinere Version des zweiflügeligen Flying B-Maskottchens bis in die 1970er Jahre auf den in Crewe gebauten Bentleys, als es aufgrund von Fußgängerschutzgesetzen zurückgezogen wurde, die auffällige solide Ornamente verbot.
Im Jahr 2006 feierte der Flying B dank eines Mechanismus, der ihn vollständig einfahrbar machte, ein triumphales Comeback. Es wurde auf dem Azure, Arnage und Brooklands angeboten und ist noch heute auf dem Mulsanne erhältlich.
Sondereditionen des Flying B-Maskottchens wurden von Bentleys Mulliner-Division für Modelle in limitierter Auflage angeboten, darunter eine dunkel getönte Version und sogar ein Flying B in Gold.

It didn't take long to reveal why IAIS 6988 stopped at the depot in Geneseo: crew change! But not just your standard crew change. It seems that none other than Henry Posner III, president and owner of the Iowa Interstate, was at the throttle of 6988 as it began its journey west toward Silvis. It pulled stopped to allow Mr. Posner to get some photos at the depot, and to allow the usual crew to take the helm to continue the rest of the journey. The train wasn't stopped for long, maybe 5-10 minutes, before it would continue on toward Silvis.
On a cold, wet Saturday night in Bathurst, up SSR Dubbo to Botany Fletcher's service 8148 lead by FIE001+FIE002+FIE003 is seen standing at the platform whilst a crew change is taking place.

NL In het weekend van 18/19 juli 2026 organiseerde de Stoomtrein Goes Borsele (SGB) sinds enkele jaren weer een meerdaags evenement: Spoor vol Avontuur.
Te gast was onder andere het Plan U treinstel 151 van de Stichting 2454 CREW. Als rit 508 is de dieseldrie zojuist vertrokken uit Hoedekenskerke richting Goes.

What a beautiful site this morning along the Blue Ridge Parkway (MP 95) as the second operational SpaceX Crew Dragon mission, Crew-2, with four astronauts headed for the International Space Station flew by. MBTA 1032 (F40PH-3C) leads an extra from Middleboro to Hyannis, passing through East Sandwich by a cranberry bog. The extra is qualifying crews on the Cape Main Line for the upcoming Cape Flyer trains.
On nous a annoncé une nouvelle date de départ ! Ce n’est pas la première fois qu’elle change... et peut-être (sans doute ? ;)) pas la dernière... en tout cas maintenant on vise le 20 avril.

Op zondag 15 november mocht het mooi opgeknapte treinstel 151 van de Stichting 2454 Crew (complimenten!) weer roestrijden, en wel in het RAS-gebied Zevenbergschen Hoek Aansluiting. Het treinstel staat tijdelijk gestald bij de SSN in Rotterdam, maar door werkzaamheden tussen Rotterdam en Dordrecht kon Zevenbergschen Hoek alleen via een omweg via Utrecht en Tilburg bereikt worden. Op de terugweg was er een planmatige stop in Woerden, waardoor in slechte lichtomstandigheden een foto kon worden gemaakt.
