Some pics from Chania Crete in June 2022.
Struggling a bit with holding the camera right, but at least this is an attempt at a panorama of the old Venetian harbour
Main Gateway, Spinalonga, Crete, 12 Sep 2025
Spinalonga was made famous by Victoria Hislop's book "The Island" about when it was a leper colony from 1904 until 1957.
The Venetians controlled the island and build a fortress.
It later became a refuge for Muslim families fearing persecution before becoming a leper colony.
It is now the second most visited tourist site in Crete, and sixth in Greece overall.
A wee trawl through the few landscapes I took in Crete brought me to this. I vastly prefer the composition to the other moonrise I have posted - in fact, it's almost identical to one of my sunrise shots. I guess that happens with limited scope for variation, but I am very pleased with the way this has turned out.
