We had a walk through the very cool (literally and figuratively!) Patsos Gorge and spotted this little beauty. I' ashamed to say i have no idea what type of flower it is - answers in the comments section please!
We made our way from Thessaloniki to the island of Crete, where we had hoped to do some hiking but were deterred by the changing seasons. The other reason we came, of course, was for the history, which was ancient even to The Ancients. In this we got all we wished, even if the fabled Palace of Knossos was not quite what we hoped for (more on that later). Mrs. Orca and the Venetian lighthouse, at Rethymno, Crete, Greece.

Just south of Siena is the intriguing and distinctive semi-desert landscape of the Crete, which break up the enchanting green landscape of this part of Tuscany. The Crete are geographical features of clay, harsh and wild, difficult to cultivate by anyone who is not an expert and who doesn't respect the laws of nature.
