For my very first iPhone app ever, I created a tool for writers. Inspired by two separate things, this little utility generates a creative writing prompt that includes a suggested character, location and circumstance.
The two sources of inspiration are a creative writing class I took myself, where each class started with a writing prompt. I found myself missing these when the classes were over, so I wanted a tool to help generate some.
Secondly, it was Raymond Chandler who said, that if you are stuck writing, simply introduce a man with a gun. This app does just that for you, although there are literally hundreds of thousands of variations.

Allegra Hyde is the author of the 2016 John Simmons Short Fiction Award winning collection “Of this New World.”
H. Lee Barnes is the author of numerous books including “Dummy Up and Deal,” “When We Walked Above the Clouds,” and “Minimal Damage.”
