LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation's annual VALOR Awards Ceremony honored outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty.

With a distinguished audience that included civic and community leaders, and longstanding friends of the LAFD, VALOR 2023 was held on November 13, 2023 at Dodger Stadium to honor members of the Los Angeles Fire Department who earned the Medal of Merit, Letters of Special Commendation, and LAFD Unit of the Year Award.

VALOR 2023 also honored those who have stood steadfastly alongside the Department in supporting key programs and initiatives that have greatly strengthened our community with the Community Impact Award, and Foundation of the Year.

VALOR 2023 brought deserved recognition to:

Sophia Grace Foundation: Foundation of the Year

Cedars Sinai: Community Impact Award

Arson Counter-Terrorism Section: LAFD Unit of the Year

Letter of Special Commendation: Captain Florin Sarbu; Apparatus Operator David Duran; Firefighter/Paramedic Darren Lloyd

Medal of Merit: Firefighter Kari Field; Firefighter/Paramedic Jason Lawrence; Apparatus Operator Tai Trinh

Charlotte Murchison was a British geologist and pioneer of geological research and fossil hunting.
