Who said that a foggy day isn't good for photography? Just jump in the car, look for the right spot, crank up the white balance to warm tones, and shoot! Here's the result. Autumn is entering its best days, and I can't miss a single moment. This country road runs between two rows of oaks and in this season the trees form a kind of tunnel. I think that some days the fog has a misterious charm. Do you agree?
My local Lone Tree, less than a mile from my home. This is the first time I’ve photographed it (I’ve only lived here 44 years!).
Definitely one I’ll return to as the seasons change.

This is a paper folded version. I used 30x60cm duo colored Kraft paper (gold /red).
Final size: a little box 5x5x5cm, when the box is closed. When Jack pops out the height is 10cm ;-))

An old Case tractor located at the Iron Creek Museum, in Lougheed, Alberta. It even has the crank to start the engine. Couldn't image having to do that.
I can't recall why I didn't crank the ISO and stop down further, but I didn't, so I've got a bit of out-of-focus vignette thingy going on here. But I so love the colors and textures, and the lines and the drops, I'm a buyer even with the out of focus edges.
I just looked at it really large - full screen plus L plus + click - and I saw something I'd frankly just missed entirely. There is something - I have absolutely no idea what it is - reflected in each and every one of the water drops, distorted differently in differently shaped drops. It looks like a hockey stick in one drop, a water pitcher in another, and an elephant in yet another, yet it is clearly the same thing in each case! It makes a wonderful addition to the image, in my not always all that humble opinion.

Eccentricity is the degree to which two forms fail to share a common center. In mechanical engineering, an eccentric is a circular disk solidly fixed to a rotating axle with its center offset from that of the axle (hence the word "eccentric", out of the center).
It is used most often in steam engines and used to convert rotary motion into linear reciprocating motion to drive a sliding valve or pump ram.
(This eccentric is on an operating model of a steam tractor.)

Well these bits of copper wire in different colours look rather straight for the " Twisted " challenge - however , they may be straight but each piece is made up of between two to five different coloured strands of wire . In the bottom left is part of the crank that is turned with the required number of pieces of wire and within seconds there is a twisted wire of varying colours ready for use in making jewellery , art pieces or whatever .

The crew of the HO02 are making their way down the Steelton Industrial track at a hair above walking speed, but to catch a decent exposure of the Juanita rebuild GP38-2 I had to crank the shutter down to a fifth of a second, giving them a "jump to light speed" pan.
First full day to relax after my hols yesterday & with the Lake District’s weather forecast looking dodgy & Tuesday’s weather, on paper at least, looking the brightest of the week for LFA7, I headed to one of my favourite locations (for how quiet it is compared to most locations in this part of Wales!) for some fresh air & tranquility.
The day started quiet but the thunder soon arrived with Liberty Wing dropping in, again about midday, 41(TES) & 29 Squadron then followed, interspersed with spirited passes by 72 Sqn. The highlight were the visitors from 3 Wing at CFB Bagotville which are based at RAF Waddington at the moment for Ex Cobra Warrior - a reminder why I still pursue the hobby. The RCAF never disappoints!
This was the ex-demo jet from 2022 cranking around the turn on its first pass. I’ve never been a fan of special paint jobs, preferring standard ops colours on jets but this scheme certainly hits the spot.

While I usually use more light than what was available, steady lighting was what was being used for the Lerro 1225 Charter night session. Pushing my camera to ISO 5000 is intense for me, but to get the speed I needed, it did the job. Making the last night pass-by, the 1225 thunders out of the dark into the light past the cleaned up Carland Elevator, creating a scene straight out of 1948.

I wanted to do this in color, but the lighting sucked because there wasn't much available light from the window, so I had to turn on the kitchen lights. It was that or crank up my ISO to 1600 lol. Anyway, it looks much better with this conversion. ;)
