Licca and her friend are teaching the younger children to make German Stars.
Toy Sunday: Theme--Handmade
In 1958 I learned to make German Stars in Girl Scouts. In 1966 I showed my two BILs and my two SILs how to make the stars. They sold the stars they made generating over two hundred dollars. They used the money to buy Christmas gifts for the family. We used recycled punched tape or perforated tape from the newspaper where my ex and I worked. Punched tape was feed into special linotype machines which made lead slugs bypassing a human type setter. Have you ever made German Stars?

My month of Craft Hermit-ness is going well so far. With Adam-style ceiling in progress on the easel.
My current favorite brew. This is the retail outlet at the Amsterdam craft beer brewery not far from where I live. They even throw in a free 25th beer when you buy a case of 24. They are very friendly and I like their sense of humor.
This is my entry into the Etsy upcycleBB contest. All the cards are made from recycled materials including: found papers, magazine subscription cards, index cards, etsy seller business cards, and more! I love this, but it sold, but I'm constantly working on more. Curious? See my profile!
The Vaygr Assault Craft is the smallest dedicated combat vessel in the Vaygr fleet. specializes in dogfighting other fighters, with excellent speed, maneuverability, and a single, powerful forward-mounted Flechette Cannon. It is sometimes classed as an 'interceptor' by other races, and this suits it well as it excels at intercepting and destroying other fighters.
Last year, I had the fortune of working with BrickFormation to develop several models from one of my all-time favorite strategy game franchises: Homeworld. Homeworld has always had a special place in my heart due to it's incredible spaceship designs and I'm happy to have had the opportunity to reproduce a few as best as I could. While this build has been done for quite some time, it can finally be posted, because the kit is officially for sale!
As this is my last post in a while, I also wanted to add a short update on things. Other than these models with Brickformation, my LEGO building has been at a standstill for most of the past year. I recently moved and all of my LEGO is currently in boxes with no timeline on when it will next be unearthed. I seem to be continuing a trend of building less and less things each year and am not sure quite when that trend will reverse. That said, I continue to enjoy watching the creative models that this community continues to put on display and hope one day to jump back in as time allows.

77 Pulteney Street, Taree, NSW Australia
The first building was the Old Pampoolah School House, see below illustration top left.
Next came the original house at 77 Pulteney Street Taree known as “The Heritage Cottage”, see below illustration top right.
An extension was added in 2011 for the café.
We had an enjoyable brunch at the café, which is staffed by volunteers. Some beautiful woodwork in the Craft Cottage, and a variety of interesting items.

You can see a glimpse of the internal mechanism here, bit of a closer look in the video: www.flickr.com/photos/inthert/46207343934/in/dateposted/
(Guess Flickr just decided it liked this one?)
Twin rotating gun mounts and a pair of vector guidance pods makes a Xylem attack craft a highly destructive, highly manoeuvrable force to be reckoned with!
I was given a bundle of mixed parts for Christmas which had 3 lime green mud guards in, so I thought ‘now what can I do with these?’ Wasn't sure if I would have time for this second entry but luckily I finished it in the nick of time :D
Play Features:
- Opening Canopy
- Rotating Gun Mounts & Rear Guidance Pods
Built for the Starfighter Category in Space Jam 2018:
Another model which was assembled as part of a display at a regional music festival in August 2022. This is a miniland scale build of the "Craft Headquarters," a wooden shed usually set up adjacent to an area of craft vendors. For decades it served as the distribution point for concert program guides, but a few years ago that changed and very few people got the memo.

My friend says both the spinning and the knitting are perfect to do in 'cooler' temperatures.
She starts spinning in Autumn, and often by the open fire.
Short draw spinning is used to create worsted yarns.
It is spun from combed roving, sliver or wool top.
The spinner keeps his/her hands very close to each other.
The fibres are held, fanned out, in one hand, and the other hand pulls a small number from the mass.
The twist is kept between the second hand and the wheel.
There is never any twist between the two hands.
Spinning the wool, hands again, my fascination ... since they are so expressive, almost as much as a face (?), a means of body language and non-verbal communication, we ‘say’ so much with our hands.
We touch, feel, handle, build and destroy, hurt and caress, kill and heal, make music (noise) and command or pray for silence, our hands can be rough or smooth.
The end product is very pleasing, I love the natural colours.
Sometimes the lady dyes the wool, also with natural dyes.
Characteristics of spun yarn vary according to the material used, fibre length and alignment, quantity of fibre used, and degree of twist.
Have a wonderful day and thank you for your comments... M, (*_*)

The lower shelves hold craft supplies. I found this CD shelving unit on the street. Love how well made it is and its thin profile for storing and displaying stuff.
This is a picture of the recently completed curtains in my craft room. I am so loving the whole window set up!
"Give me my power armor and my laser rifle, and I'll take on the world" -Paladin Danse Part of a series of lead up photos before I post the truck stop.
I used my betel nut box from Thailand but any box would work. My box measures 8.5x9.5" , 8" high with the depth of the container part 2.25". I used several sizes of pharmacy bottles to create separate compartments. Now I can easily find the tool I want to use with the added benefit of being able to carry all the tools to different "clean" work spaces.
With a Kath Kidston theme.
Ugh.. I am so sick of embrodery floss! Lol. My fingers aren't small enough for these little things!!
A big shout out to Roxanne @ Baking In Miniature for the adorable sewing bag, books, and ribbon!
