It’s impossible to truly capture the amazing color of the McKenzie River. The crystal clear blue rapids make for some of the most beautiful water I've seen anywhere. This image doesn’t do it justice, but it’s the best I could do. I was carrying less equipment than usual, but fortunately had my gorilla pod so I could do a few slow shutter shots. The river is especially wild this year with all the rain and snow we’ve had. More to come soon from the top of nearby Sahalie Falls.

Great teeth - great republic!

After a busy week a perfect way I like to unwind by eating my favorite type of breaky from a favorite restaurant 🐺

I missed World Turtle Day last week but it never bothered me to arrive late to a party. This is a green sea turtle coming up to the top of the ocean for air. It’s in the Pacific off the coast of Hawaii, near Honolulu, and less than a mile or so from shore. The turtles congregate here, at the end of a coral reef, to allow the fish to take algae off their shells. They spend a few minutes getting the job done at the cleaning station deep down below and then come up for a breath. They’re amazingly graceful in the water for such big animals.

Sahalie Falls is bursting at the seams after last winter’s historic wetness. The spray from the water crashing against the rocks at the bottom hit the side walls so hard it rose back up higher than the top of the falls. I almost didn’t take this picture because I didn’t want to get my lens too wet. The second time past I decided to go for it. Glad I did.

Sorry for sparse comments -- I'm away, in a bed & breakfast up on a mountain that doesn't have wi-fi. Back home tomorrow evening. Can't wait to tell you all about this B&B -- it is also an observatory, and I got to operate the telescope and take some photos of celestial bodies!! Being a theme B&B, they have star-shaped cushions. What better for a prop for today's We're Here! theme!!
