Shore Acres State Park, Oregon, USA

This is in Cape Arago State Park on the Oregon coast (of course:) )

If you want some info on it, it's about 15 miles south of Coos Bay, and is a scenic headland jutting into the Pacific Ocean. Long used by native Americans, Cape Arago was first sighted by Europeans during one of Sir Francis Drake's expeditions in the late 1500s. There are trails that lead down to a sandy beach and some cool intertidal pools.

Zoom in and take a look at those rock textures. I was in awe when we found this place. Just don't jump in! :)

Brassia Data Cosa 'Coo's Bay' HCC/AOS (Brassia verrucosa x Brassia caudata)

Shore Acres State Park is south of Coos Bay on the Oregon coast. It features 5 acres of formal gardens including a rose-testing plot and Japanese lily pond, as well as ocean views and beach access. In the cooler months, visitors can watch storms and migrating whales from the park's sandstone cliffs. Another seasonal attraction is the Shore Acres Holiday Lights, lasting from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve, when the gardens are decorated with lights and illuminated sculptures. Shore Acres was originally an estate owned by Louis J. Simpson, a Coos County timber baron and son of shipping magnate Asa Meade Simpson. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shore_Acres_State_Park

This coastal rock is a short walk from the garden. It shows some major past movement of the layered rock.

Looking south at some of the impressive geology of Shore Acres.

Located on the south coast of Oregon near Coos Bay, Shore Acres contains some of the most dramatic geology on the West Coast. Layers of sediment tilt at steep angles, some are spatter with dark round rock formations like cannon balls, and the surf hitting the rocks shoots spectacular waves 50 feet into the air.

The rock formations that look like cannon balls are called concretions, compact masses of mineral matter embedded in a host rock, mostly sandstone.
