A long shot of this elusive little azure kingfisher taken in the heart of Shepparton in Victoria alongside their delightful central lake. I did a rare thing for me in that I digitally "pruned" a little twig off the tree that lay right across the head of the bird. A rough job, but it always bugged me, so I had to do it! ; )

While these birds are indeed small and cute and colorful, they are actually hunters. Unlike many seed-eating/vegetarian birds their size, they eat small creatures.

This one definitely has prey in its sights...
