For the Dave Cross Challenge #12 – This one has a lot of steps so I will try to be brief. First I ran the Dust and Scratches filter then used the Healing Brush to clean up most of the imperfections on the boy and motorcycle. Then made a selection of the boy and cycle with a layer mask and deleted background. Used Free Transform/Warp to rotate and stretch the cycle. Made a background layer with a two color Gradient and added some noise then blurred a bit to soften the noise. Cropped to size. Painted color on shirt, face and hands with color overlay. Used keyboard short cut shift+option+command (control)+E to copy and merge both layers onto a layer above. Ran the Poster Edges filter on this layer and used a mask to remove the effect from the face and shirt (this showed the original layers below). Made the gas tank layer with Pen Tool, color and shading with brush. HANG IN THERE… The motion was made by coping the cycle layer (which has transparent background) moving it to the top of the layer stack running a Motion Blur, lowering the opacity and masking away areas where I didn’t want it. I then created the lamp glow and glasses (this took many steps – I won’t cover them here – THANK GOODNESS!) Added the border and did some tweaking with Curves and Saturation. Oh yeah, a shadow was added to the cycle, somewhere in there. This took over two hours – time goes fast when you’re having Fun!

Under more contested environments, hurlers carry the sliotar directly in their hand. This can lead to same scary moves to try to free the ball. One thing they can't do is throw the ball. If they can't use their hurley, they must toss the ball and then punch or smack it with their hand.
